As a Lead Software Engineer on the team, you will play a key role in design through implementation, using innovation to drive new solutions and strong Technology skills to deliver business functionality with Quality.       The Lead Software Engineer assists the technical and architectural decisions for the team. This position will actively code, provide input to the team and challenge the technical constraints and procedures to help the group achieve Agile design. This position is responsible for executing technical design and infrastructure / environments strategy, including deployments, ensuring that these are kept in-line with a Minimum Viable Product (MVP) mindset of ‘emerging architecture’. This position actively engages in coding to help the team develop a technical solution and solve all surfacing problems. This individual is an executor and ensures success of delivered technical solutions in a specific context or team.

      Responsibilities:

      • Collaborate with Architect, Technical leads and drive alignment to Technology strategy in Scrum team

      • Develop for APIs, services, and file feed components

      • Work on an agile team understanding business needs, performing analysis, and transforming them into testable components

      • Employ industry best practices to deliver world-class solutions. Ensure developed solutions remain compliant with all applicable Prudential standards

      • Drive software development activities to meet schedules and timelines

      • Drive code quality through development of automated tests

      • Research problems with a strong sense of ownership and develop solutions to address the problems

      • Stay abreast of emerging technologies and how they can be applied to Prudential

      • Enable change, help accelerate innovation

      • Demonstrating experience with taking intelligent risks and leveraging a ‘test and learn’ mentality

      • Committed to a spirit of authentic partnership – to colleagues both internal and external to the organization

      • Conduct component testing and integration testing

      • Ensure that software standards, non-functional requirements and quality targets are met

      Qualifications:

      • Bachelor of Computer Science or Engineering or experience in related fields

      • Experience with agile development methodologies and Test-Driven Development (TDD)

      • Excellent problem-solving techniques

      • Ability to work independently with minimal guidance

      • Clear, professional communications (listening, oral and written communications)

      • Strong relationship building and collaboration skills

      • Demonstrated track record as a team player

      • Experience working on agile Scrum teams

      A successful candidate will possess 5+ years of experience with the following:

      • Experience in distributed systems, object-oriented programming, design patterns and design methodology

      • Deep proficiency in more than one programming language is required- Full Stack, AngularJS, JavaScript, Java, Full Stack, Spring boot, AWS, S3, PostgresRDS, Redshift, Azure

      • Must have experience with service implementation using service-oriented architecture (SOA) patterns

      • AWS, CI/CD knowledge is a must have. AWS Certification preferred.

      • Experience with Web service technologies such as REST, JSON, SOAP, XML, JDBC, MySQL

      • Experience in JAVA/J2EE services using Spring Boot, Spring CLI, Node.JS, Maven, Microservice, multi-threading, Concurrency and parallel processing

      • Experience with relational databases

      • Working knowledge of branching techniques and usage of Github, Bitbucket, Jenkins or Subversion required.

      • Exposure to monitoring and logging techniques

      • Experience in Product or Business configuration on the FAST platform or other configuration-based software desired but not required

      • Experience with Domain Driven Design is a plus.

      • Understanding of Institutional Products like Pensions, Investments, Guarantees, 401Ks and Defined benefit is a plus.

      Note: Prudential is required by state specific laws to include the salary range for this role when hiring a resident in applicable locations. The salary range for this role is from $126,000.00 to $187,400.00. Specific pricing for the role may vary within the above range based on many factors including geographic location, candidate experience, and skills. Roles may also be eligible for additional compensation and/or benefits. Eligibility to participate in a discretionary annual incentive program is subject to the rules governing the program, whereby an award, if any, depends on various factors including, without limitation, individual and organizational performance. In addition, employees are eligible for standard benefits package including paid time off, medical, dental and retirement.
