Lead the delivery of high-quality, patient-centred care across the perioperative pathway, acting as a specialist or functional lead within the team.
Ensure that all patient safety checks, including WHO surgical safety processes, are carried out in accordance with hospital policy.
Maintain clinical credibility by demonstrating best practice, supporting others, and taking the lead in complex or high-risk situations
Provide day-to-day leadership and supervision for theatre practitioners and support staff, fostering a culture of professionalism, compassion, and accountability.
Support the development and assessment of competencies within the team, promoting continuous professional development.
Actively mentor and coach junior staff, including students and newly qualified team members.

- Contribute to audit activity, quality assurance processes, and the implementation of improvement plans.
- Work collaboratively with anaesthetists, surgeons, recovery staff, and wider hospital teams to ensure effective patient flow and continuity of care.
- Communicate clearly and effectively with colleagues, patients, and families, maintaining professionalism and empathy at all times.
- Support the coordination and planning of theatre lists and daily staffing requirements, ensuring safe and efficient service delivery.
- Take ownership of your own professional development, maintaining competencies and revalidation requirements as required by NMC or HCPC.
- Contribute to the development of theatre policies, clinical guidelines, and service innovations.

- NMC or HCPC registered practitioner with significant experience in a theatre environment (e.g. scrub, recovery, or anaesthetics).

- Scrub Practitioner or Surgical First Assistant qualification [for scrub leads].
- ENB 998 and/or mentorship course.
- Approved / recognised anaesthetic course.

- Specialist training in a defined clinical area (e.g. orthopaedics, robotics, cardiac, major surgery).

This is a full- time role for 37.5 hours a week. The role holder will be required tocover a flexible shift pattern.
