      SUMMARY:

      The North Bay Operations Supervisor provides continuous oversight of operations staff for the North Bay Service Area in CA. Duties include planning, organizing, and directing activities with respect to contract operations. The Supervisor is responsible for providing safe, compliant, and profitable operations solutions within assigned service area. Additionally, the Supervisor participates in the hiring, training, completing and administering performance reviews for employees, as well as mentoring and assisting with career advancement. This position is mobile and considered a working supervisory role.

      DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

      • Responsible for the North Bay Service Area activities that support the overall operation/efficiency of contracted water and wastewater project facilities of the California service area managed by NSU
      • Responsible for the health and safety management of the North Bay Service Area, including site audits and the carrying out of all actions to rectify issues identified by the Environmental Health and Safety group
      • Responsible for understanding the all aspects of the water and wastewater network structures as it applies to all North Bay Service Area facilities
      • Responsible to adjust workflow and to adapt new techniques as processes are improved through experience and technology.
      • Accountable for achieving state, federal, and local regulatory and discharge standards for water and wastewater permits within their given area
      • Accountable and responsible for facilities operated under supervisor’s license
      • Supervise the implementation of standards, targets, policies, and plans to ensure the continuing and increasing operational efficiency, effectiveness, and profitability
      • Maintain operational integrity (quality, environment, reliability, health, safety, security, etc.)
      • Develop and direct cost effective solutions to meet customers’ expectations and technical requirements and to encourage best practice and innovation throughout all operational areas
      • Respond to and guide through resolution all customer complaints in a professional manner
      • Provide supervisory on-call duties within the North Bay Service Area
      • Implement effective reporting processes; provide analysis and support to management staff with information required for various reports, budgets, and business plans.
      • Implement and foster the coaching and development of employees, including idea generation, within respective service area
      • Ensure effective people management policies and practices are developed and implemented (e.g., time and attendance, workforce management, etc.) and ensure resources are developed and deployed appropriately
      • Contribute to effective communication by listening and providing constructive feedback; supporting the creation of an open and honest work environment; cascading and sharing knowledge and information relevant to other members of the team and colleagues across the business
      • Serve as the liaison with government contacts to ensure client needs are met
      • Performs other related duties as assigned by management

      SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

      • Directly supervises employees within the Operations department(s).
      • Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.
      • Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

      QUALIFICATIONS:

      • High school diploma or equivalent general education degree (GED).
      • Effective written and verbal communication skills (e.g., fluency, report writing, developing materials and presentations).
      • Strong interpersonal skills (e.g., persuasion, negotiation, listening, cooperation, tact, diplomacy, problem solving, internal consulting, etc.)
      • Excellent leadership skills and presence and strong team building.
      • Excellent quantitative skills (e.g., analytical, technical, problem solving).
      • Ability to manage a geographically diverse and dispersed area.
      • Knowledge of the regulated water/wastewater business within the region and the regulations impacting the business as well as applicable regulations, requirements, and trends within water/wastewater community.
      • Knowledge of company policies and procedures and management theories, practices, and trends.
      • Expert knowledge of water and wastewater process controls and operational areas
      • Certificates, licenses and registrations required:
        • Valid Driver’s License
        • California License Grade III or equivalent, minimum (or the qualifications to obtain within 6 months)
        • California License T2 or equivalent (or the qualifications to obtain within 6 months), preferred
        • California License D2 or equivalent (or the qualifications to obtain within 6 months), preferred
      • Computer skills required:
        • High level of computer literacy required
        • Proficient with Microsoft Office
        • Familiar with LogCheck or similar e-work order software
      • Other skills required:
        • Able to troubleshoot wastewater processes and mechanical issues for various treatment facility types and sizes
