Source relevant content from Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) and any other appropriate sources to address identified gaps.
Design and develop blended learning solutions including: eLearning, training video scripts, print materials and performance support tools based on accepted instructional design principles.
Create instructionally sound training materials that support the objectives identified by the Senior Change Consultants in the Learning Strategy.
Develop content that encourages active learning, retention and improved performance on the job.
Collaborate with Web Designers to ensure learning materials are developed with a focus on optimal learner experience and usability.
Cultivate positive, collaborative working relationships at all levels across the organization.
Post-secondary degree in Adult Education and Instructional Design, or an equivalent combination of training and education.
1-3 years’ experience in an instructional design role or equivalent.
Excellent communication skills. Written and verbal, as well as interpersonal skills.
Knowledge of principles of adult learning theory, training and development techniques.
Experience in designing training programs for a variety of delivery methods including eLearning, self-directed learning, blended learning and on-the-job training / performance support.
Ability to manage multiple tasks and deliver results in a fast-paced and changing environment.
Proficient in Windows platforms (Word, PowerPoint).
Working knowledge of eLearning software (Storyline, Captivate, Lectora, etc.).
Canadian Tire retail experience is considered an asset
What you'll do
As a member of the Learning & Development team the Learning Consultant is responsible for the instructional design and development of training materials for Canadian Tire Retail (CTR) employees. Content areas include, but are not limited to, technical training (i.e.: IT reference guides, operations, and product knowledge) and soft skills training (i.e.: customer service, communication and sales). The Learning Consultant works closely with Senior Change Consultants, Senior Retail Integration Consultants and Web Designers. The role reports directly to the Manager, Retail Learning & Development.
