      We have an exciting opportunity for aLearning Disability Nurseto join ourMental Healthteam atHMP Highpoint, an adult male categoryCPrison, located inNewmarket, Suffolk.

      In this role you will have the opportunity to provide the highest standards of healthcare to our patients, without having to compromise on efficiency and quality. Also, you will have opportunities for training and development.

      The working hours are for this role is Mon Fri from 08:00 / 09:00 16:30/17:30 (some weekend and bank holiday will be required).

      This position isfull time, 37.5 hours (part-time working 30 hours can be considered).

      Youll receive an annual salary up to £38,115 per annumFTE- depending on experience.

      Main duties of the job

      As aLearning Disability Nurseyour responsibilities will vary. You will

      • develop specialist clinical skills in working with an offender population with a diversity of presenting problems, including psychosis and personality disorder, that feature alongside their learning disability and/or autism spectrum disorder.
      • be responsible for making a clinical judgment with regard to their immediate needs and long term treatment.
      • administer medication as prescribed by the doctor within the guidelines for medicines administration.

      Qualifications & Experience required

      • NMC registered Nurse (RNLD)
      • Evidence of continued CPD
      • To have experience in or be willing to develop skills in relevant to clinical area.
      • Be able to find and use new information in relation to patient care.
      • Ability to provide a holistic package of care to patients whilst working within a multi-agency team within the prison system
      • Excellent interpersonal, communication and team working skills.

      As Learning Disability Nurse you will be working as part of a multi-disciplinary team and in partnership with other services, agencies and organisations. You will be required to developing specialist clinical skills in working with an offender population with a diversity of presenting problems, including psychosis and personality disorder, that feature alongside their learning disability and/or autism spectrum disorder. You will be responsible for making a clinical judgment with regard to their immediate needs and long term treatment, administer medication as prescribed by the doctor within the guidelines for medicines administration.

      You will;

      Provide a holistic package of care to patients within the prison system and manage the assessment of health needs, planning, delivery and evaluation of care, for the prison population, including clinical risk assessment.

      Deliver non-judgemental care that makes a real difference, as defined throughout our bespoke Health in Justice Competency framework.

      Inspire excellence by forging strong links with our partners and stakeholders and providing a service that people can trust, feel safe within, and feel proud of.

      Promote the delivery of high quality, individualised, evidence-based, patient centred nursing care and ensure that Safer Cell procedures are followed and monitor patients on constant supervision where they are considered particularly at risk from suicide or self harm, recording observations.

      Share knowledge, skills and expertise to ensure safe care by working with strong multi-disciplinary teams and supporting each other to do a great job.
