Legal Counsel - Litigation, Investigations and Enforcement
Glasgow or LondonAs a Barclays Legal Counsel - Litigation, Investigations and Enforcement, you will advise on and manage claims and potential claims by or against Barclays. You will work within a team managing and advising on internal and external investigations (including enforcement and regulatory investigations) and contentious regulatory issues. Proactively determining and managing legal and regulatory risks and opportunities relating to Barclays’ business and its clients to manage those risks effectively will be part of your role.

• Directing, overseeing, and supervising litigation, investigations and enforcement matters relating to Barclays’ business and its clients in EME
• Advising on and managing legal and regulatory risk issues relating to Barclays’ business and its clients in EME
• Liaising with other members of the team, the wider Legal Function & business stakeholders, in relation to LIE cases and the management of legal and regulatory risk within EME
• Ensuring the on-line case management system is kept up to date in relation to LIE cases and assisting with the provision of monthly reports to business heads and other key stakeholders
• Developing effective relationships with other members of the Litigation, Investigations & Enforcement Function, and the Legal Function generally
• Managing and leading on stakeholder expectations in relation to case management, including providing proactive updates and reporting of developments in contentious risks
• Contributing to the development of a 'community practice' within the LIE Function, including developing shared expertise, professional standards, and team practices and procedures
What we’re looking for:• English Qualified lawyer (Solicitor or Barrister) or equivalent
• Well established experience with English law/English proceedings before English Courts
• Managing litigation for financial institutions
• Experience of working on internal and external investigations and regulatory requests for financial institutionsSkills that will help you in the role:
• Understanding of the requirements of legal risk management in a financial institution
• Previous experience working in-house within the financial services industry and/or working on financial services matters at a law firm
• Knowledge of General banking law
