Werwie & Associates, insurance staff counsel for State Farm Insurance Companies, is seeking a legal secretary to join the St. Paul, Minnesota office. The State Farm® Law Department is responsible for delivering legal services in an objective, unbiased manner and in accord with the attorneys’ ethical and professional standards. The Claim Litigation Counsel Division handles a wide range of litigation activity on behalf of State Farm insureds and/or the State Farm Insurance Companies. All Law Department employees work to provide outstanding legal services that are in the best interest of State Farm and its policyholder group. Hours for this position are Monday-Friday, 8:00 A.M.-4:30 P.M. The position is classified as a hybrid role, meaning that the work arrangement calls for hours in the office and virtually. Everyone in a hybrid role is required to spend some time in the office. Work arrangements could change over time based on business needs. Duties and Responsibilities: Works with moderate supervision on clearly defined tasks and priorities Uses automation tools to update and maintain cases accurately and efficiently Uses strong command of grammar, punctuation, spelling, and proofreading skills to produce accurate and professional work products Uses knowledge of legal and medical terminology, local and state rules regarding pleadings and pre-trial matters, deadlines and filing requirements to accurately complete assigned tasks in a timely manner Drafts routine correspondence, motions, pleadings, and subpoenas. Provides litigation assistance by coordinating witnesses, schedules, exhibits for trials or hearings, and securing records Uses interpersonal and communication skills, oral and written, to interact with team members, clients, customers, courts, and vendors in a professional manner Participates in in-house training to continue development and expand legal knowledge. Engages and responds to Excellence in Operations Management (EOM) performance dialogues and activities Qualifications 1-2 years of Civil Defense Litigation Secretarial Experience/or similar experience Experience with Adobe, Microsoft Office, and electronic document management systems and document assembly programs Knowledge of legal and medical terminology, local and state rules regarding pleadings and pre-trial matters, deadlines and filing requirements A strong work ethic and initiative #LI-CG1 #SFPL PM22
