      Position: Library Media Specialist

      Reports to: Principal

      Supervises: None

      Qualifications:

      1. Master’s degree required.
      2. Oklahoma Teacher Certification in Library Media Specialist required.
      3. Satisfy all district requirements with regard to physical health and citizenship.
      4. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.

      Position Goal: The library media specialist is responsible for developing a library media program that supports the instruction of students in collaboration with instructional staff and creates an environment rich in resources, including print and non-print materials.

      Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

      1. Evaluates, selects and orders learning resources according to District policy and procedure.
      2. Delivers media curriculum outcomes to students in collaboration with other teaching staff.
      3. Supports teachers in the selection of books and other instructional materials, and makes media center materials available to support and enrich the curriculum of the building.
      4. Communicates with site staff members concerning new materials.
      5. Plans and supervises the distribution and storage of all media materials and equipment.
      6. Helps students to develop habits of independent information access and use to develop the skills in the use of instructional materials in relation to learning outcomes.
      7. Removes obsolete and work materials from the collections to reflect changing curriculum needs of the building.
      8. Supervises the operational routines of the media center.
      9. Analyzes the media program on an annual basis to establish new policies and services as necessary.
      10. Determines need to update technology.
      11. Perform all other duties as assigned.

      Employment Terms: 9-month teacher contract beginning August 8, 2025 plus extra duty contract. Salary, benefits, and work year to be established by the Board through the Collective Bargaining Agreement with the Jenks Classroom Teachers Association.

      FLSA Qualification: Exempt

      Evaluation: Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board of Education’s policy on Staff Evaluation.

      Hearing/Speaking Requirements: Adequate to exchange information.
