What to Expect (Job Responsibilities):
- Assist fellow students with library resources and writing as a Peer Research Consultant
- Guide peers in developing their research skills through consultations
- Collaborate with other employees in the Search Bar to provide comprehensive support
- Engage in problem-solving and critical thinking during peer interactions
- Maintain effective communication with peers in various formats, including in-person and online
What is Required (Qualifications):
- Must be an undergraduate student at Penn State University
- Strong communication and customer service skills in-person, in writing, and online
- Ability to think critically and solve problems independently
- Capability to collaborate effectively with peers and library staff
- Availability to work during the Fall and Spring semesters, including weekends and evenings
How to Stand Out (Preferred Qualifications):
- Previous experience in a teaching or tutoring role
- Familiarity with academic research methods and library resources
- Interest in library sciences or related fields
- Strong organizational skills to manage time effectively around academic commitments
