      Why Rolls-Royce?

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Life Cycle/Service Engineer within the Adour Aftermarket Team in Bristol to support the engine that powers the Hawk training aircraft, in operation with the RAF (Training aircraft and Red Arrows) as well as more than a dozen air forces around the world.

Working in the Services Organisation of a global Defence aero engine manufacturer, you will provide in-service technical support to the product to ensure safe, reliable and disruption free operation whilst influencing maturity across the product life cycle to meet customer and business needs.

As a Lifecycle Engineer you will exhibit strong communication skills with an understanding of cross-discipline engineering concepts to provide technical support to all operators of all marks of the Adour engine globally. This highly challenging and interesting role provides opportunities for ownership of customer operational issues and to act as the customer technical interface where worldwide travel to customer bases is encouraged.

This role requires balancing the needs and expectations of the customer with the demands of our business and provides great learning opportunities from overall technical understanding of gas turbine operation to customer and stakeholder management.

We offer excellent development opportunities, a competitive salary and exceptional benefits. These include bonus, employee support assistance and employee discounts.

Your needs are as unique as you are.

      What you will be doing

You will work with worldwide operational customers (air forces), industrial partners, airframers, regulatory authorities and Maintenance, Repair & Overhaul facilities to provide product technical support for the in-service operation. You will:

      • Manage known and potential safety issues (Safety Alert Report & Red Top).
      • Ensure compliance with requirements specified by regulatory authorities and to adhere to technical and business requirements of internal & external stakeholders.
      • Identify, investigate and resolve in-service technical issues (e.g. queries and operational arisings), lead the investigation of operational issues to establish root cause and introduce containment / corrective actions as required.
      • Prepare and deliver technical communications (e.g. presentation and/or reports) to regulators, customers and internal stakeholders.
      • Identify cost reduction opportunities by reviewing, maintaining and extending component and engine life as well as updating life cycle engineering policies and associated maintenance planning.
      • Influence new product design with in-service experience and develop support strategies across the product lifecycle to suit customer and business requirements.

For this role, the candidate will have:
