- Responsible for retrieving morning and afternoon mail. Responsible for sorting and opening all mail.
- Distributes all incoming mail to their distribution box. Hand deliver envelopes, cartons or other items as needed.
- Weighs, meters and mails out any outbound mail.
- Tracks postage costs by cost center for each outbound piece. Provide a monthly listing of all U. S. postage used, by cost center
- Receives any incoming cartons, packages or skids..
- Troubleshoots mailroom equipment such as scale, meter machine, folding machine, printer, copiers or other item. Contacts equipment company repair personnel as needed.
- Maintains supply of ink and toners for the mailroom equipment and all copy machines located at Leader Dog.
- Maintains stock of copy machine and printer paper ensuring sufficient quantity is on hand and available.
- Coordinates with other departments to determine their outbound mail needs and then, as needed, contact volunteers to arrange their services to assist with any bulk mailing.
- Installs meter machine updates as received.
- Supports facilities team as needed.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Possess general knowledge of mailing techniques, methods, and rates for various shipping vendors (Post Office, UPS, FedEx etc.).
- Proficient in latest version of Microsoft Office products.
- Possess strong oral and written communication skills, as well as strong organization skills, and have acuity with detail.
- Ability to work well under pressure, handle multiple priorities and meet deadlines; must have the ability to work independently, be self-directed with little or no supervision.
- Possess a valid driver’s license with no restrictions and the ability to travel as needed.
- Comfortable with and willing to work around large dogs.
- Possess sound business judgment, exercise professional conduct, understand and follow business ethics and standards, and maintain a high level of confidentiality in all duties.
- Willing to perform general public relations duties on behalf of Leader Dog (perform tours, answer general questions, be a professional and courteous representative of Leader Dog, etc.).
- Ability to establish and maintain professional, productive and courteous interactions with employees that promote positive teamwork, as well as with volunteers, donors, clients and all constituents of Leader Dog. This encompasses going beyond giving and receiving instructions and includes but is not limited to (a) performing work activities requiring interacting or speaking with others; and (b) responding appropriately to constructive feedback or suggestions for improvement from a supervisor.

SUMMARY

Qualifications
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
A minimum of a High School diploma or equivalent. One to three years of experience in logistics/mailroom or related field required. Some college preferred.
