- Must be registered, or immediately eligible for full registration, as a Professional Agrologist with the BC Institute of Agrologists (BCIA). Note: immediately eligible for registration is defined as being able to transfer a current membership from an applicable jurisdiction to the BCIA within six (6) months of employment. Confirmation of registration/eligibility is required before an offer of employment can be made.
- Bachelor of Science in range management, plant ecology or related field that includes range science. Preference may be given to those with a Master’s Degree (or higher).
- At least three (3) years of experience in range management and administration. Preference may be given to those with a minimum of five (5) years of experience in range management and administration.
- Experience negotiating/mediating solutions in natural resource management.

BC is unique among jurisdictions managing rangelands because the majority of BC′s rangelands are in forests and not open grasslands. Approximately 82% of BC's Crown rangelands are forested.

The Rangeland Practices Specialist provides professional and technical advisory services in a particular field of expertise (i.e., range management, plant ecology, range science) in support of range use and management practices and strategies that address key issues. To be successful in this role, you possess the ability to draw conclusions on complex technical issues, using advanced analytical reasoning underpinned by your professional expertise and excellent judgement. You have strong written and oral communication skills, exercising professionalism, tact and diplomacy to industry clients, external agencies and management.
