      Business Development Associate, Jonas Software – Mergers and Acquisition Division

      Jonas Software is recruiting for a Business Development role within its Mergers and Acquisitions team. The successful candidate will be researching industry specific software companies, striking up rapport with C-Level Executives, and nurturing relationships over time with companies that could be suitable to acquire. This position requires a confident, innovative and business-minded person who can generate and develop ongoing relationships, effectively outline Jonas’ acquisition philosophy, and understand whether a company is suitable for acquisition. In the role, you will work alongside senior members of the M&A team as well as operational executives to learn different aspects of the M&A process. The team is primarily based in the Greater Toronto Area, however this will be mostly a remote position.

      JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

      • Conduct industry and competitive research to identify vertical market software businesses that meet our strategic criteria and specific metrics;

      • Strike up and nurture relationships with business owners, shareholders and senior executives regarding the potential acquisition of their business;

      • Develop and grow a deal pipeline through outbound sales efforts i.e. email, phone, conferences, trade shows and professional contacts while engaging regularly with existing leads in our database;

      • Make recommendations to the senior leadership team of Jonas Software to pursue new targets or to enter new and adjacent markets.

      JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

      • Demonstrated success in cold calling, prospecting, pipeline management, and general sales process

      • 2+ years of professional experience

      • Bachelor’s degree. Business administration, business or a mathematics/ logic-based subject is an asset.

      • Prior software sales experience in a business to business environment is an asset

      ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

      • Strong understanding of software business strategies is a plus

      • Must be self-motivated, have organizational agility and have the ability to plan own work schedule and set and monitor personal performance goals

      • Having a long-term career and success mindset

      • Requires excellent listening skills and pipeline management

      • Have a positive attitude and work ethic with a strong drive for results

      • Excellent analytical, problem solving, organizational and presentation skills

      • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

      • Ability to effectively strike up rapport

      • Strong interpersonal interaction and articulation skills

      • Knowledge of Salesforce is an asset
