      The Opportunity:

      An exciting opportunity exists to join a team of attorneys and paralegals on the Mergers & Acquisitions (M&A) Legal Team within Caterpillar’s Law, Security & Public Policy Division (LSPP). This team supports all of Caterpillar’s acquisition, divestment, joint venture and venture capital transactions worldwide.

      This job provides an opportunity to work with leaders and subject matter experts across the enterprise.

      Successful candidates will be process driven, have an interest in the M&A function of LSPP, be able to prioritize multiple projects, and have an interest in gaining experience across a broad range of legal fields.

      Job Duties:

      The position will support the attorneys with traditional paralegal responsibilities across all areas of the legal functional area. In addition, the M&A paralegal will have the opportunity to engage in special projects and expand their knowledge. This position is a core part of Caterpillar’s M&A process by performing as the due diligence coordinator for all transactions.

      This role’s key responsibilities include: supporting M&A attorneys and Corporate Development clients; managing the due diligence process throughout various transactions; managing multiple tasks at once with varying timelines; organizing various meetings across all time zones; coordinating and leading various meetings with large attendance base (50+ attendees); building and enhancing process improvement projects; and maintaining and presenting training materials to members across the enterprise.

      Legal support and projects will be assigned according to the complexity of the work and by the prior experiences of the candidates on the team. The legal work performed by the team’s paralegal is under the direction of attorneys.

      The candidate will have an opportunity to learn about LSPP, get involved in projects, and lead tasks as needed by the team.

      Basic Qualifications:

      • Four (4) year university or college degree.

      • Paralegal Certificate (not required if have 2 year degree in Paralegal Studies).

      • 8+ years' of job related experience.

      • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

      Top Candidates will also have:

      • Strong interpersonal, decision making and collaboration skills.

      • Strong verbal and written communication skills.

      • Strong Microsoft 365 skills (including but not limited to: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and SharePoint).

      • Ability to use established processes to complete job tasks and recommend process improvements/solutions.

      • Ability to start, control/conclude complex job tasks and prioritize workload.

      Position to be located in Irving, Texas or Peoria, Illinois.
