      Job Title: Maintenance Engineer


      Job Description

      A university in St. Paul is seeking a dedicated Maintenance Engineer. This role involves managing the campus-wide HVAC and Utilities Distribution systems, including overseeing the Building Automation System. Key responsibilities include conducting regular maintenance, addressing repairs, and swiftly handling emergencies. Additionally, the Maintenance Engineer will ensure the safe operation of high-pressure steam boilers, chillers, and other plant equipment, while providing support to other Facilities Services team members as needed.

      Responsibilities

      • Perform routine maintenance on all campus equipment.
      • Complete daily repair tasks and document them using the CMMS.
      • Conduct required safety inspections and tests on sprinkler systems and fire pumps.
      • Ensure mechanical rooms are kept clean, organized, and professional.
      • Assist contractors, vendors, and facilities service personnel with various projects, including distributing keys and hot work permits.
      • Operate boilers and chillers safely.
      • Test water treatment daily and take necessary actions.
      • Manage the building automation system, adjusting settings based on building conditions, electrical demands, and gas usage.

      Essential Skills

      • Experience with HVAC, facilities maintenance, and electrical systems.
      • Proficiency in building automation systems.
      • Ability to operate boilers and chillers, including Chief B Boilers and 1B Boilers.
      • Knowledge of high-pressure steam systems.
      • Supervisory skills.

      Additional Skills & Qualifications

      • Chief B OR 1-B Boilers License (Required)
      • Higher education related to facilities maintenance.
      • 4+ years of planning and directing staff and operations.
      • Experience with A/C and refrigeration systems.
      • Bachelor's Degree (Preferred).
      • Facilities experience in an education setting (Preferred).
      • Knowledge of utility/maintenance appliances/systems, plumbing, preventive maintenance, repair, and carpentry.

      Work Environment

      This position is based at a university with a campus covering 1.7 million square feet on 57 acres. The Maintenance Engineer will work in a team of 6-7 others, providing guidance and leadership as needed. The role includes responding to on-call emergencies, typically once per month, with increased frequency during the winter season.

      Pay and Benefits

      The pay range for this position is $79000.00 - $85000.00/yr.
