What to Expect (Job Responsibilities):
- Provide training and technical assistance to rural utility operators in remote Alaskan villages
- Respond to emergencies that threaten community water and sewer systems
- Conduct assessments and develop plans to resolve operational and maintenance issues
- Operate and maintain small handheld equipment for water/sewer leak detection and repairs
- Travel frequently to remote locations for fieldwork, often using small planes, snowmachines, and boats
What is Required (Qualifications):
- Valid Alaska Driver's License and ability to drive a light pickup truck within six months of hire
- Must obtain entry-level Water Treatment, Water Distribution, and Wastewater Collection certifications
- Willingness to travel to remote Alaskan communities
- Experience in plumbing, pipefitting, electronics troubleshooting, carpentry, and general building maintenance
- Ability to work independently while maintaining a team-oriented approach
How to Stand Out (Preferred Qualifications):
- Previous experience in a similar maintenance or utility operations role
- Familiarity with community water and sewer systems
- Experience working in remote or challenging environments
- Certification in related technical fields
