      Job summary

      Management Accountant Band 7 - 37.5 hrs - Parkhouse

      The post holder will work with Service managers to provide advice and support in budget management, helping them stay within budget, identify CIPs and do costings for service changes.

      The Trust finance Team promotes the Trust values through the commitment to development of staff whilst working as a team to deliver the services required of us by our customers.

      Main duties of the job

      The post holder will be part of the financial management team, with the responsibility for providing expert budgetary and financial advice, including the analysis and discussion of complex financial queries, and support to finance and non-finance staff for a designated range of services.

      The post holder will provide an effective budgetary control and forecasting service to the Trust and managers including monthly budgetary meetings, ensuring the financial implications of all actions are communicated and understood by all parties to assist them in effectively managing their budgets and providing support in identifying potential efficiencies and developing the Trust's cost improvement programme. This will include the production of accurate and timely information to inform the monthly management accounts by; maintaining the system for budgetary control, coordinating the preparation and posting of journals for budgets, income and expenditure and ensuring that appropriate prepayments and accruals are included in the Trust's Income and Expenditure Account.

      Budget holders are to be challenged on the causes and management of overspends. Areas of unacceptable financial performance are to be addressed, which will include the identification and monitoring of recovery plans.

      The post holder will be expected to work on their own initiative by planning and organising their workload in order to meet monthly timetable deadlines and will allocate work to a team of staff.
