      • This position is a key member of the Cargo Operations team reporting to the Head of Global Operations for America’s Cargo division.
      • Based in London, the Cargo Operations Manager will lead and execute on all goal setting activities and has day to day operational responsibility for overseeing the management of the Cargo division’s critical LHR hub.
      • The LHR Operations leader will work with internal and external stakeholders to set and achieve operational objectives and support ways to achieve them, partnering with the commercial and customer experience service functions across the cargo division.

      What you'll do

      This senior position leads the LHR Cargo Operations team and will be responsible cultivating and developing relationships with handling partners, interline partners, the airport authority and government officials as necessary. You will represent AA Cargo at internal and external meetings and conferences and will actively participate in developing a strategy for AA Cargo handling going forward. In addition, this leader will be responsible to drive team performance and developing their team.

      Responsibilities will include:

      • Setting & monitoring operational performance, on behalf of AA Cargo, at London Heathrow.
      • Implementing and monitoring policies, procedures, and business processes for cargo/mail operations.
      • Lead and develop the entire LHR Cargo Operations team including leads and vendor management inclusive of daily oversight, people management performance delivery reviews and training.
      • Assume responsibility for overall LHR hub performance related to cargo operations and ensure the goals set for the hub are met and exceeded.
      • Continue to evaluate, recommend, and implement new processes to improve performance. Increase efficiency and resource utilization.
      • Analyze data from multiple sources and identify needs and opportunities for improvements to mitigate service failures.
      • Will oversee the station’s performance and reporting, inclusive of daily, weekly, and historical performances.
      • Will have direct oversight of all facets of the operation and implement initiatives to improve experience.
      • Will be responsible for oversight and leading program development regarding technology and tools associated cargo ops locally.
      • Liaise with the Airport Authority and other Airlines partners on finding methods of work of system changes that will continually improve the performance.
      • Ensuring that sufficient resource allocation is effectively assigned by the vendor partner/s to handle AA’s product to a high standard.

      What You'll Do (Cont.)

      • Ensure that security, Dangerous Goods adherence, operational training and other objectives are met consistently and on a timely basis, in accordance with both the American’s and local regulations.
      • Work with handling partners and any necessary authorities to ensure delivery of the highest handling performance results.
      • Oversee compliance with AA Performance Standards and compliance with all regulatory requirements.
      • Continue to evaluate, recommend, and implement new processes as necessary to keep AA Cargo service offering competitive in the marketplace and working within agreed budgeted parameters.
      • Engage and partner with the commercial team to have joint goals and ownership of the LHR cargo hub.

      Additional Duties and expectations:

      • Engage regularly with all airport departments, vendors and airport authority, as required, to ensure compliance and to review any open issues, etc.
      • Carry out all duties in a professional and effective manner.
      • Review AA Cargo systems regularly and produce compliance and performance reports.
      • Timely notification to senior management of any DG or security incidents. Also, timely notification to senior management of any operational issues
      • Continue to ensure that best practices are employed across the region.
      • Ensure that the LHR Cargo facilities are responsive to the customer’s needs.
      • Participate in operational and other meetings, for AA Cargo.
      • Implement Business Continuity Planning for all Cargo facilities.
      • Cultivate the partnership between AA Cargo and handling partners.
      • Have knowledge and understanding of Customs and Regulatory requirements for LHR.
      • Represent American Airlines at industry events.
      • Responsible for continuous productivity improvement through automating and streamlining processes.
      • Responsible for leading on team development and engagement.
      • Develop team’s capability of quantifying value and facilitating operation efficiency and effectiveness-justified decisions.

      Additionally, this leader will be required to foster relations with Airport Services colleagues to serve “One Team” philosophy. These relationships should be monitored on an ongoing basis, to ensure that all parties are meeting/ exceeding expected standards.

      Minimum Qualifications- Education & Prior Job Experience

      • Strong analytical skills
      • Excellent communication skills
      • The ability to effectively multi-task during stressful situations
      • The ability to work with a range of different departments and all levels of management within AA.
      • The ability to look beyond the immediate needs of the LHR operation in order to identify the best opportunity for AA.
      • Strong quantitative analysis skills to be able to identify and value sales opportunities.
      • Must be able to communicate effectively in both spoken and written English and the local language (if applicable)
      • A highly motivated people manager who can drive our handling partners to achieve departmental delivery goals.
      • Strong business acumen – understanding the importance of accountability and outstanding customer service and with the other departments and vendors that support the successful delivery of such.
      • Proactive and able to think strategically.
      • Ability to deal with difficult discussions with other departments and key stakeholders sensitively and effectively.
      • Have the confidence and ability to build credibility and effective working relationships.
      • Ability to maintain confidentiality and be respectful of opposing views and opinions.

      Preferred Qualifications- Education & Prior Job Experience

      • Cargo technical knowledge and experience preferable/advantageous
