      Manager, Corporate Strategy

      Expedia is seeking to hire a Manager of Corporate Strategy as a crucial member of the Corporate Development, Strategy, and Investor Relations team. Our team is responsible for shaping the strategic direction of Expedia Group, partnering closely with senior leaders across the organization, in order to drive profitable, sustainable growth. This role reports to the Senior Director of Corporate Strategy and will work closely with a broad range of internal stakeholders, including Expedia’s most senior leaders.

      As a Manager of Corporate Strategy, you will define and drive strategic projects across Expedia Group, play an integral role in strategic planning, support quarterly Board of Director presentations, and monitor & synthesize key market trends.


      What You'll Do:

      Manage Expedia’s corporate strategic planning process

      • Identify and play a key role in operationalizing key medium- and long-term strategic initiatives to improve Expedia’s operational performance and competitive positioning, while working with senior executives across the organization
      • Work with the CEO, CFO, and executive leadership team to develop Expedia Group’s strategic plan
      • Assess divisional strategic plans and develop a corporate view on portfolio-wide gaps and opportunities

      Evaluate strategic opportunities and develop perspective on implications and actions for Expedia

      • Identify business / value driver opportunities
      • Assess strategic options for Expedia and work with internal and external partners to develop the business case
      • Communicate findings to senior stakeholders, build buy-in

      Identify and evaluate key market trends, opportunities, and risks

      • Synthesize key trends and competitive moves in our ecosystem
      • D evelop perspective on implications for Expedia

      Other responsibilities

      • Provide ongoing strategy and finance support to the CEO and Board of Directors
      • Acts as a change agent for ongoing innovations and efficiencies
      • Articulates key business issue and helps develop the rationale for addressing it
      • Assists in the identification and analysis (e.g., cost/benefit, risk) of potential solutions to address the business need
      • Helps determine the recommended solution, documenting the business case for change and sharing with leadership
      • Gains stakeholder trust by effectively addressing their concerns to further long-term interests
      • Uses understanding of current business processes, objectives and challenges to suggest solutions and improvements
      • Identifies methods for collecting data, performs data analyses and articulates findings
      • Develops simple models to understand the potential impacts of decisions under various scenarios
      • Develops an in-depth understanding of the industry, including the key players and their success strategies
      • Develops an awareness of industry issues, including trends and challenges or concepts
      • Develops a broad understanding of industry products/services and their applications; distinguishes the pros, cons and implications of the options
      • Demonstrates deep understanding of how the organization does business (i.e. business model and operations, financial performance, and key success factors)
      • Applies deep understanding of the policies, practices, trends and information that impact the organization and its customers to anticipate and plan for each step of a project
      • Demonstrates a deep understanding of the financial impact of decisions/solutions and how own role contributes to positive outcomes


      Who You Are:

      • 3-5 years of strategy consulting and / or experience in a similar role in a leading travel or technology company; MBA is a plus
      • Excellent written and verbal communications skills and experience communicating complex information
      • Proven track record of defining and executing thoughtful analyses in an ambiguous environment with minimal supervision
      • Results-oriented, self-aware, and able to drive success while working autonomously
      • Excellent problem solver with ability to synthesize and present complex concepts to both executive leadership and operational teams
      • Bias to action - with an appetite for driving business impact/execution

      The total cash range for this position in Seattle is $110,500.00 to $155,000.00. Employees in this role have the potential to increase their pay up to $177,000.00, which is the top of the range, based on ongoing, demonstrated, and sustained performance in the role.

      Starting pay for this role will vary based on multiple factors, including location, available budget, and an individual’s knowledge, skills, and experience. Pay ranges may be modified in the future.
