      In accordance with the Vision, Purpose, and Values, and strategic direction of the Vancouver Island Health Authority, (Island Health) patient safety is a priority and a responsibility shared by everyone; as such, the requirement to continuously improve quality and safety is inherent in all aspects of this position.

      Reporting to the Director, Environmental Support Services, the Manager, Environmental Support Services, is responsible for management of Environmental Support Services at several Island Health-operated sites. The Manager, Environmental Support Services provides management, implementation, and administration of services within Island Health, including service quality monitoring and performance issues. The Manager acts as the Island Health liaison for internal customer departments to develop/modify service level agreements and to resolve any issues arising from the services.

      The Manager, Environmental Support Services is responsible for all aspects of planning, organizing and directing staff and activities of the Environmental Support Services Department providing housekeeping services at various sites that are operated by Island Health. . Working collaboratively with Island Health programs, consultants, contractors, and stakeholders, the Manager leads planning activities and works with teams to identify, plan and implement changes and evaluate improvement initiatives.

      QUALIFICATIONS:

      Education, Training And Experience

      A level of education, training and experience equivalent to a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration or other related area and five (5) years' recent related management experience, including experience in an Environmental Support Services Department. Completion of relevant health care administration courses an asset. A valid BC driver's license.

      Skills And Abilities

      • Recent management experience and solid understanding of related legislation.
      • Demonstrated leadership abilities and highly developed interpersonal and written/oral communication skills.
      • Demonstrated commitment to client focused services and teamwork.
      • Ability to integrate administrative, professional and operational aspects of the department throughout Island Health in an effective and efficient manner.
      • Computer literacy with word processing, email applications, spreadsheets and/or database programs.
      • Knowledge of project management and change management principles and methodologies.
      • Ability to interpret budget and financial reports and work with a financial analyst on budgets for new programs.
      • Demonstrated project management success and the successful completion of a strategic project within the last three years.
      • Proven ability to write, analyse and edit project plans/charters, proposals, risk management plans, communication plans, progress reports, Service Level Agreements, and MOU's for accuracy and consistency
      • Ability to develop and nurture an environment where quality improvement principles are embraced and used on a continuous basis.
      • Detailed knowledge of workplace culture and wellness.
      • Ability to positively include teamwork through building and maintaining relationships.
      • Physical ability to perform the duties of the role.
