      Basic Responsibilities

      The Manager of Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) will be reporting to the Sr. Director of FP&A will play a critical role in supporting the financial health and strategic objectives of Abilene Christian University . This role invol ves leading the budget processes, conducting in-depth analysis, and managing the monthly - close process to ensure accurate financial reporting . The manager provid es institutional leaders with actionable insights and ensures that financial plans align with the University’s mission , goals, and regu latory requirements.

      Essential Duties

      Budget and Forecasting

      • Manage the annual budget preparation process for each College, and Department
      • Collaborate with department heads to create realistic budget that align with strategy
      • Provide monthly financial and operational performance analysis against budget, identifying variances and recommending corrective actions
      • Manage financial and operational forecasts based on added information and/or evolving priorities while assisting to identify risks and opportunities across the Campus by College, Program or Department
      • Provide financial modeling to support business development and execution, including but not limited to new product lines, new product pricing, and financial modeling

      Monthly Close

      • Manage the monthly close process to ensure timely and accurate financial and operational reporting
      • Reconcile accounts, review journal entries, and ensure all transactions are recorded accurately
      • Collaborating with the accounting team to maintain the integrity of the general ledger
      • Prepare and review financial statements for distribution to senior leader teams by College, Program or Department
      • Identify opportunities to streamline the close process, improving efficiency and accuracy

      Team Leadership and Collaboration

      • Supervise and mentor FP&A staff, focusing on professional growth and skill development in a remote learning environment
      • Lead efforts to streamline financial data collection, analysis, and reporting processes
      • Support training for non-finance stakeholders to improve their understanding of the budgeting and financial planning process

        • Savvy with Financial Platforms (Anaplan, Banner, Cognos, Workday, Adaptive)
      • Training Required
        • Excel
        • Anaplan / TM1 / Banner / Cognos (Internal Systems)
        • Internal Financial & Operational Structure
      Qualifications

      Education:

      • Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, economics, business administration, or related field; a master's degree is preferred

      Experience:

      • 3-5 years’ experience in FP&A, budget management, financial reporting, preferably in higher education or nonprofit organizations with previous management experience
      • Minimum 3+ years' experience preferred in Financial Planning & Analysis, with previous management experience supporting a matrixed organization

      Professional:

      • High comfort level in financial modeling, budgeting, forecasting, and monthly close processes
      • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with ability to present complex financial information clearly
      Physical Demands
      • Must be able to work in an office environment, while seated for long periods of time (2-8 hours)
      • Limited travel required, locations may vary and some overnight travel may be necessary
