- Oversees and manages the daily accounting operations, monthly close procedures, interface/integration management of the University’s fixed asset accounting systems (Workday Business Assets and URSpace), the movable equipment survey, long-term debt and ensures proper internal controls and compliance with generally accepted accounting principles and other regulatory agencies such as the OMB Uniform Guidance for Federal Grant management.
- Supervises professional accounting staff on general ledger account classifications, journal entry processing, review of accruals, account reconciliations, financial system diagnostics and all reporting and analyses required for the fixed assets and long-term debt areas
- Manages and coordinates the preparation of quarterly and annual consolidated financial statements and annual footnote disclosures for the fixed asset and long-term debt areas in accordance with GAAP. Review financial results, understand variances, and collaborate with financial management across the University to ensure results are accurate and appropriate. Maintain effective working relationships with internal financial management.
- Reviews and evaluates University accounting policies and procedures for efficiency, accuracy, and compliance with GAAP. Maintain current accounting policies and procedure documentation. Provides process improvement and implementation method recommendations accordingly. Manages the fixed asset policy areas of the Financial Reporting web page for relevant policies, procedures, content, and information for the University community.
- Leads special projects involving financial analysis, system implementations, new accounting regulations, etc., including planning and recommending changes as assigned for the fixed asset and long-term debt areas. Assume responsibility for the project, establishes timetables, activity plans and coordinates the efforts of any subordinate staff
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting required.
- MBA (Master’s in Business Administration) strongly preferred.
- 5 years of experience in accounting in a health care and/or University setting required.
- Or equivalent combination of education and experience required.
- Exceptional analytical skills, communication skills, attention to detail, ability to work independently with minimal supervision required.
- CPA (Certified Public Accountant) strongly preferred.

$96,860.00 - $145,290.00The referenced pay range represents the minimum and maximum compensation for this job. Individual annual salaries/hourly rates will be set within the job's compensation range, and will be determined by considering factors including, but not limited to, market data, education, experience, qualifications, expertise of the individual, and internal equity considerations.
Responsibilities:
GENERAL SUMMARY
Oversees accounting, financial reporting, compliance, and management of the University’s fixed assets and long-term debt. Leads team of professional accounting staff with varying levels of experience.
Develops, maintains, and assesses accounting policies and internal controls over key accounting processes to ensure compliance with accepted accounting principles (GAAP). Serves as an advisor to divisional finance directors and other University administrators and oversees University-wide training for the equipment survey within the University’s space management system. Collaborates with the UR Financials team, divisional finance offices, and other university administrators to ensure that key accounting and reporting control deficiencies identified for the fixed asset and long-term debt areas are remedied in UR Financials and other University systems in a timely manner.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
