      Role Summary

      The Managing Director, AI and Data Transformation is a forward-thinking and strategic leader who sets and executes the AAG AI and data strategy. They enable and drive the use of AI and advanced data analytics to transform and modernize the business, improving efficiency, creating scalability, and enhancing the experience for customers and employees. They create value and generate innovation for the organization by providing insightful analytics and AI solutions that integrate into the digital ecosystem to meet the current and future needs of the business. They ensure the performance and profitability of the AI and data functions while maintaining quality, compliance, and ethical standards.

      Key Duties

      • Define, implement, and drive an AI and data transformation strategy that supports the company’s vision and strategic priorities.
      • Partner with the business to understand their needs, challenges, and opportunities and provide best-in-class AI and data solutions that create value and competitive advantage.
      • Lead the transformation of enterprise data platforms to enable AI, data science, analytics, optimization, and system integration.
      • Manage the data architecture, infrastructure, and platforms to ensure data availability, reliability, and performance.
      • Leverage cutting-edge AI technology like LLMs, carry out complex analysis, build proofs-of-concept and prototypes, create insights, and build models and products that serve the business.
      • Drive innovation by extracting critical insights from our data and providing actionable recommendations for innovative products we can build to support efficiency and scalability.
      • Establish an AI and data center of excellence (COE) to build in-house expertise and best practices across the organization.
      • Establish and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and metrics to measure the impact and value of AI and data transformation initiatives.
      • Lead and mentor a team of data professionals to deliver high-quality data products and services.
      • Foster a culture of data literacy, curiosity, and experimentation across the organization.
      • Identify and prioritize data opportunities and challenges and propose innovative and scalable solutions.
      • Ensure compliance with data policies, standards, and regulations.
      • Stay abreast of the latest trends and developments in AI and data technology.
      • Foster a continuous learning and improvement culture in the AI and data domain.

      Job-Specific Experience, Education & Skills

      Required

      • 10 years of experience in data science, data engineering, AI or a similar role.
      • 5 years of experience leading and managing AI and data teams.
      • Bachelor’s degree with a focus in business administration, economics, statistics, computer science, or a related discipline; or willingness to attain a bachelor’s degree within six years of start date.
      • Proven track record of delivering data-driven insights and solutions that drive business outcomes.
      • Expertise in AI/ML techniques, tools, and frameworks.
      • Experience in data analysis, modeling, visualization, and reporting tools and techniques.
      • Experience in data warehousing, data integration, data quality, and data governance.
      • Knowledge of cloud-based data platforms, tools, and services.
      • Strong communication, presentation, and stakeholder management skills.
      • Ability to think strategically, creatively, and analytically.
      • Passion for data and innovation.
      • Excellent problem solving, analytical, communication, and presentation skills.
      • Strong team leader, with the ability to lead, hire, mentor, coach, and develop a team.
      • Proven ability to develop strong, collaborative working relationships across all levels of the organization.
      • High school diploma or equivalent is required.
      • Minimum age of 18.
      • Must be authorized to work in the U.S.

      Starting Rate

      Salary Range

      $206,800 - $341,300 / year

      Total Target Compensation Range (incl. bonus & equity)

      $341,300 - $563,100

      Salary Details

      The pay range and total target compensation package listed above is the expected pay offered for this position at the start of employment. Your pay will be based on multiple factors, including and not limited to location, your relevant experience/level, experience level, and skillset while balancing internal equity relative to other Alaska/Horizon employees. Alaska/Horizon is committed to fair, unbiased compensation along with competitive benefits in all locations in which we operate.
