      Job Summary:

      The Managing Director, Legislative Affairs is responsible for monitoring legislative, judicial, and regulatory tax developments and advising both the tax practice and firm clients on the implications of significant changes resulting from such changes. The Managing Director, Legislative Affairs will work across industries, tax service lines, and practice groups to identify planning opportunities and compliance challenges arising from tax changes, coordinating the response and driving revenue growth through go-market collateral and service delivery guidance. The Managing Director, Tax Controversy and Procedure will serve as a mentor to other members of the NTO team.

      Job Duties:

      • Applies knowledge and expertise to advise internal and external clients on legislative, judicial, and regulatory tax developments
      • Prepares summaries and detailed technical analyses of developments for internal and external distribution
      • Coordinates with NTO, tax leadership and BDO firm leadership to execute upon the firm strategy
      • Coordinates the response to legislative, judicial, and regulatory tax developments and drives revenue growth through go-market collateral and service delivery guidance
      • Develops and implements firm wide training programs for staff through principal in area of expertise
      • Other duties as required

      Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

      Education:

      • Bachelor’s degree, required; focus in accounting or finance, preferred

      Experience:

      • Ten (10) or more years of professional experience, required
      • Tax experience, preferred

      License/Certifications:

      • One of the following, required:
        • CPA certification
        • Bar admission
        • IRS Enrolled Agent credentials

      Software:

      • Experience with various tax applications and research tools, required

      Other Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

      • Superior verbal and written communication skills
      • Solid analytical and decision-making skills
      • Ability to meet project deadlines with a focus on organization and detail

      Individual salaries that are offered to a candidate are determined after consideration of numerous factors including but not limited to the candidate’s qualifications, experience, skills, and geography.

      National Range: $300,000 - $400,000
      Maryland Range: $300,000 - $400,000
      NYC/Long Island/Westchester Range: $300,000 - $400,000
      Washington DC Range: $300,000 - $400,000
