- Master’s Degree in Human Services, Business, Public Administration or a related field is required with a minimum of fifteen years recent, progressive responsible management experience in a public child welfare system, including at least five years at a senior level, preferably in a strategic capacity working at the systems level. Experience personally consulting at the cabinet level public administration may be substituted for recent public administration senior management experience. Experience in strategic planning, systems integration, systems change and an in-depth understanding of multi-state child welfare systems required. Knowledge and experience of current state and jurisdiction administration, needs, and influential contacts required.
- A balance of initiative and diplomacy is critical, as well as the ability to build relationships, provide assistance and resources, learn fast, conduct assessments/evaluate systems and provide assistance and resources. Must bring relationships and experience that allow for entry into the assigned jurisdictions and be received positively by child welfare administrators.
- Demonstrated excellent oral and written communication skills are required, along with excellent negotiating and listening skills. A commitment to building personal and organizational sensitivity towards diverse cultural, socio-economic and lifestyle backgrounds is essential.
- Ability to build relationships, provide assistance, be a resource, make presentations, work independently, take initiative, provide assessments and system evaluation. Excellent leadership skills including training, group facilitation, and supervision are required.
- Technical proficiency with Microsoft Office and experience with any specific software or technology as needed for the job.
- This is a regular full-time position that may require travel up to 40% of the time.
- Ability to protect the confidentiality of sensitive information by learning and following all relevant policies and protocols and using sound judgment in the handling and sharing of that information.
- Physical requirements include the ability to lift and reach for light objects; close visual acuity to prepare and analyze data, text, and figures; ability to type utilizing a computer keyboard; ability to travel to outside locations; and the ability to work at a computer for extended periods of time as a primary job function. Job Summary:
The Managing Director - Strategic Consulting will lead Casey Family Programs in proactively engaging and supporting child welfare leaders in their systems improvement efforts through-out the United States with a focus on the states and jurisdictions assigned to the position. The purpose of this position and the efforts it directs is to create system change and to safely reduce the number of children in foster care. The Managing Director will strategically support efforts in jurisdictions that are geared at preventing abuse and neglect, promoting timely permanency term self-sufficiency for children in foster Care.
Essential Responsibilities:
· Acts as Casey’s primary contact in states and jurisdictions assigned. Coordinate efforts internally and with external collaborators to assist the child welfare systems in safe reduction of the number of children in care while improving the lives for youth and families who are in or would have entered foster care.
· Provides integration and coordination for the strategic consulting team and leadership opportunities for individual team members that enable growth and encourage leadership development with the position. Provides timely and relevant feedback to employees in an effective way. Ensures that employees receive the appropriate training, feedback, performance evaluations, planning documents and compensation as provided under the Human Resource Systems.
· Responsible for building solid relationships with those individuals and organizations able to create or influence positive systems change, providing sound data driven and outcome focused recommendations, and cultivating and facilitating approval for actionable strategies, including reinvestment, to support child welfare agencies in the safe reduction of youth in foster care.
· Effectively communicates the work of Strategic Consulting and provides leadership in influencing child welfare practice, policies and laws on a local, state and national level to increase strengths and provide broad wide system impact.
· Provides support to the EVP – Systems Improvement. Represents EVP when necessary and appropriate.
· Plays an important leadership role within Casey by promoting internal collaboration and communications as well as leading innovations.
· Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Casey Family Programs requires a COVID-19 vaccination for in-person work. Therefore, all employees will be required to present proof of vaccination status unless they qualify for a medical or religious exemption.
This position is a remotely based position and the salary will vary based on geography. In accordance with the law, the base salary for the position in certain locations is listed below.
Colorado & WA State: $184,200 to $217,100
California: $184,200 to $238,700
New York City: $202,800 to $238,700

Additionally, employees are eligible to accrue paid time off, starting at 8 hours per month of annual leave and 8 hours of sick time per month in the first year of employment. Casey Family Programs also observes 10 paid holidays per year and each employee receives one personal holiday to use each calendar year. Employees that meet certain tenure qualifiers are eligible for up to eight weeks of parental leave for the birth or placement of a child for adoption or foster care. After the completion of 10 years of continuous, full-time employment, employees in good standing are eligible for a three-month sabbatical with pay.
