      Job Summary

      We have an exciting opportunity for a Manufacturing Engineer to provide Manufacturing Engineering capability to operational and development Programs , enable and deliver zero defect projects while utilizing engineering and problem solving skills. You will be accountable for delivering robust, capable manufacturing process technology as it applies to materials, tooling, part fabrication and assembly.

      The successful candidate will be a good "all rounder" and able to support across multiple functions within the assembly process. Based at our Western Approach site, you will a part of a close knit team of 20 plus strong to ensure planning and quality of our composite components are meeting customer requirements.

      How You'll Contribute

      • Accountable for the implementation of production planning, from original concept through to production. Design these processes to a high level of process capability through utilizing the GKN standard Zero Defect Manufacturing (ZDM) tool suite.
      • Accountable for product development, first article, configuration changes, build process definition and implementation.
      • Define the hard tooling requirements and support the introduction of tooling solutions from original concept through to production.
      • Define the requirements for internal NC Programming ensuring the condition of supply for up and downstream suppliers is considered and that design intent is achieved.
      • Define the requirements for procured parts and kits
      • Responsible for identifying and managing the introduction of any new chemicals, materials, and sealants, ensuring health and safety requirements are achieved and procurement processes are in place.
      • Exemplifying a safety-first mind-set and ensuring compliance with the GKN Aerospace Health, Safety and Environmental policies and standards.
      • Responsible for the development of technical solutions to complex problems within GKN Aerospace, our customers and suppliers.
      • Deliver technical support of manufacturing process development and integration for production.
      • Utilize root cause analysis, preventative and corrective action to reduce/eliminate non-conformances.
      • Maintain positive, team relationships with internal and external customers, as well as co-workers
      • Continuously improve production processes by implementing Lean initiatives.

      ⦁ Proactive approach demonstrated in team environment to achieve knowledge management

      ⦁ Experience of creating methods and bill of materials using SAP or SAP like systems
      ⦁ Knowledge of composite manufacturing / assembly
      ⦁ Knowledge of using problem solving tools eg: zero defects 8d, MSA, FMEA

      Desirable:

      ⦁ Degree/ HND/ Qualified or qualified by experience

      ⦁ Project / Program Management
      ⦁ Familiarity with AS9145 APQP process or equivalent

      The successful candidate will be a motivated team player, adaptable to change and able to work in fast paced environment whilst having a keen eye for detail. You will be willing to learn and strive toward progression.
