      Marketing Placement Year 2024

      We are seeking seven proactive self-learners with a passion for marketing, data and communication to become Marketing placement interns at Sony Europe! Sony aims to inspire consumers through strategies that communicate our brand and innovative products to the world. We are visionary, creative, and passionate individuals who aim to bring together the essence of the Sony brand in new, innovative ways.

      Throughout this 12-month paid placement, you will be given the opportunity to not only expand your knowledge and gain valuable transferable skills but also immerse yourself in what it means to be a marketing professional in a multinational organisation and to understand where your career could take you. Working within established teams, you will be offered experienced mentorship alongside multiple development opportunities.

      Across various departments, we offer seven placement roles!

      1. Trade, Segment and Marketing Communications Intern: Weybridge, UK

      In this role you will become a part of the Professional Displays and Solutions business, helping the team to understand the market, to manage and support our existing customer base and to generate new business opportunities with the use of sales tools and marketing communications.

      Throughout the placement, you will:

      • Support marketing activities such as social media content creation, email communications, website and partner portal content development, event support and general marketing administration.

      • Work with the marketing delivery teams to write and give briefs, manage projects from start to finish and create Sales tools in line with business requirements.

      • Support the market insights and trends analysis for key segments like corporate or education.

      • Have the responsibility for specific sales and marketing activities, projects and events in collaboration with the team.

      • Handle incoming sales leads.

      • Have the opportunity to support the organisation of tradeshows across Europe.

      2. Personal Entertainment Product Marketing Intern: Weybridge, UK

      You will be supporting Sony Europe’s ‘Personal Entertainment Product Marketing’ team which deals with products such as headphones, speakers, audio players or recorders. Within this role, you will have the opportunity to get involved with all aspects of their work including physical support, preparation of presentation materials and marketing assets, sales or logistics management for Events, Training and Promotions

      Throughout the placement, you will:

      • Analyse customer reviews, ratings of key product models and ‘Voice of Customer’, including online, customer support or other feedback, to reflect in new product development.

      • Support creating and implementating of Press, Advertising and Marketing assets of new product launches.

      • Monitor, analyse and report market pricing evolution and trends to various European partners.

      • Regularly produce Competition Charts detailing Sony vs Competitors product prices & specifications.

      • Help organise Focus groups and other surveys, and analyse ensuing data to reflect in future products.

      • Responsible for strict management of product samples stock for promotion activities, ensuring the distribution of loan samples throughout Europe.

      3. Digital Imaging Marketing Intern: Weybridge, UK

      The purpose of this role is to become the right hand of the Marketing Communications Manager in the Digital Imaging Product Marketing team. This team takes care of the marketing for Sony’s cameras, lenses and various camera accessories.

      Throughout the placement, you will:

      • Drive reporting of social media metrics of Ambassadors & Influencers working with Sony UK and support with tracking social media performance of key UK marketing activities.

      • Maintain and grow Sony UK DI Instagram account and participate in improving social reach and interactions through event preparation.

      • Develop monthly reporting systems regarding online and physical events.

      • Assist the UK Marketing Team in demo/loaning products (stock management) and handling products for events and other DI activities.

      • Support the product managers at consumer events, Pro Support depots and B2B events.

      • Handle the SRM and Salesforce Management.

      4. Media & Consumer Insights Intern: Weybridge, UK

      In this role, you will get immersed in the day-to-day operations of the media & consumer insights team. It’s an exciting role with an opportunity to learn vast amounts, work autonomously and as part of an international and enthusiastic team. The role will entail regular analysis of data to evaluate media plans and performance of campaigns, as well as handle data sets to create presentations about consumer research projects.

      Throughout the placement, you will:

      • Assist with the planning and delivery of multi-touchpoint, cross-channel media campaigns for European markets.

      • Review the in-campaign performance of various Sony product categories across all digital channels.

      • Assist with planning inputs for paid search campaigns such as ad copy, keywords etc.

      • Communicate and collaborate with media agencies, to ensure that campaigns are delivered on time.

      • Visit key media owners (e.g., Google, TikTok, Amazon etc) for workshops on research studies and best practices.

      • Learn about data privacy impacting industry tech and behaviours.

      • Lead and facilitate consumer insight projects by working together with a research agency.

      5. TV Product Planning and Marketing Intern: Weybridge, UK

      In this role, you’ll be responsible for creating Sony Europe’s TV online & in-store communication by planning, creating, and implementing offline & online assets such as e-commerce assets, digital banners and website. You will assist with the collation of all communication assets and the distribution to Sony’s offices in various European countries.

      Throughout the placement, you will:

      • Create in-store & online marketing assets which present TV’s benefit to end consumers and implement to Pan-European sales & marketing companies in the local countries.

      • Collaborate with other colleagues to execute assets and optimise them.

      • Help with the preparation of communication activities for product launches in Sony Europe.

      • Assist with daily communication with colleagues in other European countries.

      • Support dealer and product announcement events.

      6. Consumer Product Marketing Intern: Weybridge, UK

      As a Consumer Product Marketing Intern in the Imaging Products & Solutions team, you will assist the technical marketing manager with various activities allowing you to gain a wide range of experience.

      Throughout the placement, you will:

      • Demo and loan product and sample management – operating from the office and from 3rd party agency.

      • Assist with the setup and organisation of product trainings, create tests for attendees and evaluate results.

      • Support the Sony Imaging Influencers & Ambassadors project with monthly reporting of social media metrics, facilitating the reporting platform and driving continuous improvements, monthly reporting to the European senior management, presenting on best practices and suggesting improvements.

      • Track and analyse social media performance and social activation of key marketing activities including product launches in conjunction with product managers.

      • Assist with maintaining and growing the Sony Alpha Universe Instagram account – support the development of social assets and help improve social reach.

      7. Assistant Product Manager Intern: Basingstoke, UK

      The purpose of this role is to support the Category Head for News Camcorders, B2B Audio and Media in the Media Solutions marketing team. Being responsible for the management of Recording Media Products, you will be collaborating with account managers, sales, and supply teams to drive sales and match the demand for each model.

      Throughout the placement, you will:

      • Plan & support monthly forecast & budget creation and track monthly market share for reporting and analysis, while proactively suggesting improvements in competitor analysis and monthly price tracking.

      • Support with event management for Media Solutions Europe.

      • Coordinate sales enablement and marketing tools across all product categories.

      • Provide day-to-day support of activities and events for the European Product management team.

      • Handle demo requests, courier collection forms and product ‘end of life’ notices.

      • Assist the Hive department in logging client requests with Jira Software.

      • Provide market intelligence support for various divisions such as Live & Virtual Production.

      You will bring:

      • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

      • A keen interest in data-driven marketing, marketing communication, social media and technology.

      • Analytical thinking with a passion for understanding the market through data.

      • An assertive, proactive attitude with a willingness to get involved wherever required.

      • Experience with stock take.

      • Fluency in English, knowledge of other European languages is preferred.

      • Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, PowerBI). Knowledge of graphical programs (e.g., Photoshop) is of advantage.

      You will be studying for an undergraduate degree in Business, Management, Marketing, Data Analytics or similar, with eligibility for a 12-month placement starting July 2024.

      Our recruitment process:

      The job posting will be open until 9th November. Afterwards, the selected candidates will be asked to complete an automated video interview. In December, the best-performing candidates will be invited to an interview. We are aiming to finalise our recruitment process by the end of December.

      Basingstoke

      Based at the Basingstoke office, you will enjoy a vibrant and friendly working environment with full accessibility. We have an onsite canteen with a wide range of options available, and a barista style coffee shop. There is a well-provisioned onsite gym run by our own Sony Wellbeing Coordinator, with classes on set days in the mornings, at lunch and after work hours. We have a staff car park which includes electric charging points, or if you will use public transport, we have a shuttle bus service that regularly runs between train station and the office at peak times.
