      Reporting to the Manager, Contact Engineering, you will provide engineering support and ensure that all maintenance activities affecting Canadian Pipelines Assets, including SELC and East Tank Farm, are executed according to our engineering standards and practices.

      Minimum Requirements:

      • Five or more years of relevant engineering experience in fixed equipment, with knowledge of relevant ASME, API, Z662 codes

      • Bachelor degree in Electrical Engineering. Certified Engineering Technologists (CET) with Electrical experience will also be considered.

      • Registered as a Professional Engineer with the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Alberta (APEGA) or as a Certified Engineering Technologist with the Association of Science & Engineering Technology Professionals of Alberta (ASET)

      • Strong skills with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Project, Visio, PowerPoint, etc.)

      • Possess a valid driver’s license and a clean driving record

      Responsibilities:

      • Ensure all the repairs and maintenance activities affecting Canadian Pipelines equipment are executed according to Suncor's Engineering Standards and Practices and following the vendor's recommendations when applicable

      • Collaborate with operations and maintenance to identify improvement opportunities to overall safety, availability, and operating costs of Canadian Pipelines assets.

      • Work closely with maintenance specialists, maintenance planners and reliability program developer on equipment reliability issues, and failures trends, in order to improve existing Preventive and Predictive Maintenance plans and existing asset strategies.

      • Provide support for reviewing and trending failure patterns, identifying root cause of failures and developing reports outlining recommendations for maintenance and operations

      • Use risk review approaches, hazard and operability studies, management of change process and other safety checks to maintain and improve area safety and reliability performance indicators

      • Monitor equipment and perform periodic system and equipment walk downs to maintain a current awareness of system condition and performance

      • Make continuous improvement recommendations to improve asset capability, safety, and operability through elimination of bad actors and/or improved equipment or component selection and innovation

      • Investigate and perform root-cause analysis of failures related to equipment

      • Ensure equipment design changes comply with the engineering management systems and are evaluated for the impact on equipment reliability; lead the engineering design of minor plant and equipment modifications when required; lead and steward the management of change process for maintenance/expense projects

      • Develop justifications, and technical and economical evaluations of major equipment changes and projects to be executed

      • Use solid engineering and technical knowledge to prepare work scopes and coordinate complex repairs such as equipment overhauling, maintenance projects, etc.

      Location and other Key Details:

      • You will work out of our Suncor Energy Logistics North site in Fort McMurray, Alberta

      • Hours of work are a regular 40-hour work week, Monday to Friday

      • If you reside outside of Fort McMurray, relocation of your primary residence to within 60 km of Fort McMurray is mandatory. Relocation support will be provided; we offer competitive housing assistance to eligible individuals

      • This position is safety sensitive

      • Our engineering roles follow internal compensation guidelines and the pay band will generally be based years of experience and scope of work
