      This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Certain Personnel of the DoD Workforce to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service.

      About the Position: This position is located on the island of Oahu, in the City & County of Honolulu.
      - Veteran Preference does not apply.
      - Incentives may be authorized on case-by-case basis, subject to agency determination and approval.

      Duties


      • Serve as the cybersecurity technical expert, consultant, and advisor to the Honolulu District, and apply a wealth of mechanical engineering and construction knowledge.
      • Oversee the implementation of cybersecurity requirements into engineering deliverables for multimillion-dollar projects.
      • Collaborate with DoD, and other federal, state, or local government agencies as required to ensure cybersecurity, mechanical engineering practices are in compliance with current standards.
      • Responsible for the quality of all mechanical design features.
      • Demonstrate knowledge of applicable design codes, criteria, policy and processes related to vertical construction projects.
      • Prepare construction plans and specifications for designs.
      • Review quality of all mechanical design plans and specification.

      Requirements


      • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
      • Incumbent is required to obtain an Identity and Access Management (IAM) Level I certification within six months of entering the position.
      • Incumbent is required to obtain an IAM Level II Certification within 5 years of entering the position.
      • IAW ER 690-1-1212, Registration as a Professional Engineer in Mechanical Engineering is required.
      • Temporary duty (TDY) travel up to 15% of the time.
      • One-year probationary period may be required.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-12). Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted. Selective Placement Factor: This position has selective placement factor which must be met prior to employment and for continued employment. Position requires the incumbent to have a state registration/license as a Professional Engineer (PE) license in Mechanical Engineering.
