JOB SUMMARY
Meggitt Defense Systems, Inc. is looking for a multi discipline engineer where, under general supervision and with some latitude for un-reviewed action, assists in the design, development, and testing of all aspects of mechanical components, equipment, and machinery with a primary focus on electrically driven fans and pumps (gear and centrifugal). Design experience with 3 phase induction and permanent magnet motor is a plus. Problem solving shall rely on solid engineering principles, experience and judgment with a wide degree of creativity and latitude.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Detailed design and mechanical arrangement of electromechanical components and systems.
2. Performs stress analysis using traditional hand calculations and available software programs.
3. Bearing selection and analysis.
4. Perform tolerance analysis.
5. Interface with Manufacturing Engineering, Inspection, and Purchasing.

MUST BE A US PERSON: US Citizen or Legal Permanent Resident

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
BSME or equivalent. 2 to 5 years of experience in designing mechanical components/subsystems and applying ASME Y14.5M. Works under minimal supervision performs assignments of medium to high complexity and assists other Engineers.

COMPUTER SKILLS
Personal Computer. Spreadsheets & word processing (Word, Excel). CAD: SDRC, Solidworks or ProE, or similar. Knowledge of structural and dynamic analysis software is an advantage. Knowledge of applications software as Mathcad and other graphics software is a plus.

Please note that the salary range information is only applicable for California. Compensation is based on a variety of factors, candidate experience, qualifications, location as well as market and business considerations. Pay Range: $77,300 - $128,800
