Position Summary:

Work Model: 100% Remote from anywhere within Canada. Travel is at approx. 10%.

We are currently looking to hire a Mechanical Hydro-Generator Engineer to support our rapid growth in Canada, Actalent is a strategic partner to a major client in the Hydropower generation industries and has additional clients in the gas turbine, turbomachinery and other industrial industries.

The Mechanical Hydroelectric Generator Engineer is responsible for the engineering support for refurbishment of various components of the generator. Engineering support will include, performing basic calculations for the design of components, manufacturing support, and installation support.

Education and Experience Requirements:

• The candidate must have a degree in Mechanical Engineering from a recognized university.
• The candidate must be a registered Professional Engineer in Canada (PEO preferred)
• The candidate should have 5-10 years of experience in similar role.
• Hydroelectric generator experience is a must. Familiar with Industrial Standards.
• Some site support and manufacturing support experience.

Skills:

• Strong verbal and written communication skills (English, French is an asset)
• Ability to work with a multidisciplinary team;
• Knowledge of NX is a plus;
• Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills;
• Excellent problem solving and time management skills;
• Good Structural aptitude and knowledge;
• Self-motivated and highly organized.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

• Perform basic design and detail design activities for refurbishment of generator components, such as Rotor poles, Collectors, Bearings, etc.
• Preparing calculation notes and packages for drafting and approval when needed.
• Support the suppliers follow up activities and provide support as required.
• Coordination of work between different teams/resources (design engineer, drafters etc.)

Other duties could include:

• Technical writing, such as analysis reports, verification reports, technical modification requests, non-conformity reports, etc
• Follow-up of manufacture in the workshop and assembly/modification of units on site

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $90.00 - $120.00/hr.
