      The Medical Assistant assists in examination and treatment of patients under the direction of an urgent care provider. Manages the check-in and registration process, interview patients, measures vital signs (i.e., pulse rate, temperature, blood pressure, weight, and height), and records information on patients' charts. May be required to draw and collect blood samples from patients and prepare specimens for laboratory analysis. Prepares treatment rooms for examination of patients.

      Essential Functions u00A0
      • Register patients, verify insurance, and process co-pays.
      • Schedule appointments and coordinate specialist referrals. u00A0
      • Answer patient inquiries and update them on care status. u00A0
      • Inform staff of patient flow and assist with patient preparation. u00A0
      • Record medical history, take vitals, and escalate critical cases. u00A0
      • Perform point-of-care testing (e.g., flu, strep, ECG). u00A0
      • Perform phlebotomy and administer injections as needed. u00A0
      • Maintain exam rooms, stock supplies, and manage inventory. u00A0
      • Update medical records and scan documents. u00A0
      • Answer phone calls and handle mail. u00A0
      • Perform patient follow-up and maintain reception area. u00A0
      • Handle opening/closing duties, cash out, and secure the building. u00A0
      • Conduct daily equipment checks and submit repair tickets. u00A0
      • Perform additional duties as assigned. u00A0
      Additional Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required u00A0
      • Basic Medical Assistant duties
      • Ability to type quickly, basic computer knowledge
      • Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel
      • Detail oriented, able to rely on experience and judgment to perform a variety of tasks, participate on a team, and accomplish goals
      • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
      • Able to interact and treat all persons with fairness, respect and sensitivity to cultural/social difference

      Requirements:u00A0
      • High School Diploma required
      • Graduate of Medical Assisting Program preferred
        u00A0u00A0u00A0u00A0
      • Basic Life Support (BLS) required at the time of hire (American Red Cross or American Heart Association)
      • One of the following certifications is required (or must obtain within 15 months of hire):
        • CCMA - Certified Clinical Medical Assistantu00A0(verified through NHA, National Healthcareer Association)
        • CMA - Certified Medical Assistantu00A0(verified through AAMA, American Association of Medical Assistant)
        • RMA - Registered Medical Assistantu00A0(verified through AMT, American Medical Technologists)
        • NCMA - National Certified Medical Assistantu00A0(verified through NCCT, National Center for Competency Testing)
        • NRCMA - Nationally Registered Medical Assistantu00A0(verified through the National Association for Health Professionals)
        u00A0Additionally, CPOE certification for order entry is required within two weeks of start date and must be kept active in lieu of MA certification within the first 15 months of hire.

        In lieu of an approved MA Certification, we will also accept the following certifications at the time of hire:
        • Graduate of an Accredited School of Nursing or LPN or RN
        • EMT - Emergency Medical Technician (verified through the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians)
        • CNA - Certified Nursing Assistant
