Job Description

- Works denials, zero/partial pay, offsets and unadjudicated claims for resubmission, appeals or adjustment
- Reviews rejected claims and reprocesses as needed. The current claims process is automated.
- Prepares appeals for denials that require a more detailed response
- Prepares, reviews and sends monthly patient statements
- Responds to inquiries from patients, insurance companies or outside agencies with regards to billing concerns, requests for information, chart requests or audits.
- Performs insurance verifications and processes hardship requests
- Posts insurance and patient payments using medical claim billing software
- Prepares month end reports
- Other duties as assigned

- Experience with Excel and Medical Billing Software
- Thorough knowledge of functional area under supervision
- Minimum 2-3 years medical billing office experience
- Experience with Athena software collections processes preferred
This is a fully remote, work at home position.
The Medical Billing Collection Specialist responsibilities include the hands-on day to day billing and collection of preventative healthcare services.
