What to Expect (Job Responsibilities):
- Determine appropriate ICD-10-CM, CPT, CDT, and HCPCS, or HCC codes based on clinical documentation
- Code multiple (sub)specialties and professional component coding for various facility services
- Conduct charge entry for outreach billing as needed
- Provide education to providers and staff regarding coding practices
- Ensure compliance with Official and employer Coding Guidelines

What is Required (Qualifications):
- High School diploma or equivalent and medical coding education; active coding certification in lieu of education is required
- Certification as Certified Professional Coder (CPC), Certified Outpatient Coder (COC), Certified Inpatient Coder (CIC), Certified Coding Specialist (CCS), or Certified Coding Specialist Physician-Based (CCS-P), or Certified Coding Associate (CCA) required
- Minimum of one year of progressive coding experience; two years in multiple specialties preferred
- Extensive knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications

How to Stand Out (Preferred Qualifications):
- Certification as a Certified Risk Adjustment Coder (CRC) within one year of hire for HCC
- Experience with HCC Risk Adjustment Coding
- Background in a healthcare-related field, such as an Associate degree
