      Job summary

      Brunel Medical School provides education and training for both MBBS students (5-year undergraduate programme) and Physician Associate (PA) students (2-year MSc programme). Both programmes share a number of distinctive features, including team-based learning (TBL), clinical anatomy using a collection of plastinated human specimens, and clinical placements at leading GP practices and NHS Trusts in and around West London.

      Main duties of the job

      Brunel Medical School provides education and training for both MBBS students (5-year undergraduate programme) and Physician Associate (PA) students (2-year MSc programme). Both programmes share a number of distinctive features, including team-based learning (TBL), clinical anatomy using a collection of plastinated human specimens, and clinical placements at leading GP practices and NHS Trusts in and around West London.

      Successful applicants will be part of a team of staff who will contribute to various aspects of the Medical Schools programmes. Your responsibilities will be teaching anatomy to MBBS students and on other programmes/courses. Other areas of contribution may include clinical skills, communication skills, curriculum development, assessment and student selection. In-house training will be provided. Those wishing to undertake a postgraduate qualification in education will be encouraged to do so, and funding is available to support this.

      Key duties and responsibilities

      The successful post holder will be part of a team of medical education fellows MEFs contributing primarily to the teaching of phase 1 year 1 and 2 student cohorts, and to the ongoing development of the 5-year MBBS programme.

      Key duties and responsibilities include one or more of the following:

      Teaching anatomy to MBBS students and on other programmes courses.

      Contribute to the planning, development and review of curriculum materials.

      Contribute to student selection, including multiple mini interviews.

      Contribute to assessment, including Anatomy Spot Tests.

      You may also be involved in the teaching and assessment of clinical and communication skills

      Administration and Management

      Contribute to Departmental, College and/or University committees.

      Communication

      Liaise with internal and external stakeholders, as required.

      Scholarship

      Support an academically rigorous and evidence-based approach to the design and development of curriculum, informed by a scholarly understanding of educational theory and practice.

      External Engagement

      Participate in external networking, generating opportunities for collaborative learning and teaching projects.

      Present planned educational initiatives at appropriate internal and external meetings.

      Professional Development

      Undertake continuous professional development CPD in medical education, according to prior experience and performance.
