      Develops medical equipment plans, including budgets and specifications, for new KP medical facilities, major renovations and expansion of existing medical facilities. Evaluates, locates and recommends equipment to be purchased. Consults with medical and administrative personnel, architects, and contractors on the same. Identifies equipment and design conflicts during the design process to avoid costly construction delays. Develops and updates budgets for project start-ups. Conducts value cost analysis and comparative equipment studies to recommend the most cost and time effective systems. Provides accurate and sufficient information for project teams during the design, implementation and installation process. Provides knowledgeable responses to client's questions when medical equipment issues arise.


      Essential Responsibilities:

    • Conducts independent work in support of all phases of the design, construction, deployment and installation of capital projects.

    • Manages large and/or multiple complex projects. Collaborates with management on workload distribution

    • Leads the development and delivery of project work plan processes and program, defining deliverables and due dates, with Clinical Systems Engineer (CSE), and Kaiser Permanente Information Technology Project Manager (KPIT PM)

    • Demonstrates leadership to the project teams and broader Clinical Technology community of practice supporting medical equipment planning

    • Leads the delivery of processes and programs to monitor emerging technologies: report on healthcare related technology trends; assess new healthcare related technologies; disseminate healthcare related technology information as appropriate across the Kaiser Permanente enterprise aligning with processes within the broader Clinical Technology program

    • Leads the development and delivery of equipment planning processes and programs developing equipment standards and specifications in consultation with user groups and strategic partners

    • Leads the development and delivery of equipment planning tools and job aides on an enterprise level

    • Leads the development of new enterprise concepts, techniques and standards on an enterprise level

    • Collaborates with the Clinical Systems Engineer on the development of the processes and program for the production of 3-5 year clinical technology medical equipment forecasts and strategic plans for service area, regional, and national purchasing plans.

    • Leads and applies the same methodology on non-Clinical Technology supported equipment. Conducts cost-benefit analyses

    • Leads the development and delivery of processes and programs for consultative support to the regional and national Clinical Technology leadership, Service Delivery Program, Facilities Planning and Design in the development of data analysis, technology and design assessments and forecasts, and other forms of customized consultation

    • Leads the development and delivery of processes and programs for the equipment planning in new and existing care delivery environments; provision of technical and environmental requirements in support of contract documents; conduct drawing reviews and coordinates medical equipment placement on project construction documents, templates; assistance with the reviews of startup equipment lists; assistance with equipment punch activities and forecasting as needed

    • Leads and applies the delivery of processes for system assessment, design, implementation and strategy of Clinical Technology, IT networks and integrations within service areas, regions and/or across the enterprise, in collaboration with the Clinical Systems Engineer, National Facilities Services Business Information Office, and Care Delivery Bio Medical Device Integration.

    • Leads the development and delivery of processes and programs for equipment reuse, performance analysis, asset lifecycle and total cost of ownership in collaboration with the Clinical Systems Engineers, service areas, and regions and/or across the enterprise.

    • Serves as a primary liaison to the broader external healthcare industry; in particular to healthcare technology committees and workgroups; responsible for representing Kaiser Permanente Clinical Technology equipment planning program; leads development of strategies to incorporate industry best practices into Kaiser Permanente Clinical Technology program

    • Leads and provides the development and delivering of project management techniques, working knowledge to perform a functional analysis of the equipment as it relates to operations and facility, defining key equipment criteria for the project, offering alternative solutions to the design teams to reduce initial or lifecycle cost while maximizing function, without compromising patient care, ADA requirements or ergonomics
