      Job summary

      The NIHR UCLH Clinical Research Facility UCLH is a well-established Clinical Research Facility (CRF) covering two sites. The Leonard Wolfson Experimental Neurology Centre is a dedicated neuroscience experimental medicine facility at the National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery (NHNN) at Queen Square (QS); and the NIHR UCLH Clinical Research Facility is a comprehensive Cancer and Medical research facility on the Bloomsbury campus (BC) at Tottenham Court Road.

      We are looking to recruit a self-motivated and enthusiastic Medical Laboratory Assistant to work in the CRF laboratory and be specifically responsible for general laboratory maintenance, assist in processing, storing and shipping samples collected as part of clinical trials implemented at the UCLH NIHR CRF from first-into-human through to complex and innovative phase 3 trials, and experimental non-IMP studies. The post holder should demonstrate good interpersonal skills, with ability to communicate to colleagues and service users and be an excellent team worker.

      Main duties of the job

      The post holder will be expected to provide support by maintaining accurate records and general laboratory maintenance, resulting in high quality clinical data in line with the study protocol, the principles of Good Clinical Practice (GCP) and the UK Medicines for Human Use (Clinical Trials) Regulations.

      o To receive and process samples.o To maintain the integrity and accuracy of the research samples.o To be responsible for maintaining accurate manual and computerised records.o To be responsible for general laboratory maintenance.o To collaborate and liaise with clinicians, support staff and research staff.

      The post holder will work across CRFs sites based on laboratory support needs, and shift work may be required from time to time depending on needs e.g. 8am to 4pm, 10am to 6pm, 11am to 7pm.
