      Staff Specialist, Medical Lead, Virtual Care Centre, Hunter New England Local Health District

      Hunter New England is seeking to engage a clinical leader to provide innovative medical leadership and robust clinical governance in establishing and operationalising the HNE Virtual Care Centre. The medical lead will assist the Virtual Care Centre Change Manager in achieving the key strategies for virtual service including but not limited to excellence, leadership, education, and research in delivering quality virtual patient-centered health care. The Medical Lead will assist with implementing the virtual models of care necessary to support the delivery of services across HNE to all consumers and clinicians regardless of their physical location. The role of the medical lead for a new Virtual Care Centre is vital in ensuring the seamless integration of technology into healthcare, emphasising the commitment to high-quality, patient-centered services.

      Mandatory requirements of this role include:
      • Extensive understanding of the safe delivery of healthcare within a virtual environment
      • Management and oversight of the delivery and quality of clinical services, educational programs, clinical practice improvement and research relevant to medical officers
      • Oversight of and support for senior medical officers, including recruitment, rosters, leave management, workplace safety assessment and appraisal and wellbeing.

      Where You’ll Be Working: This incredible opportunity offers the flexibility to be based anywhere across the Hunter New England Health District. Hunter New England Local Health District covers a region of 131,785 square kilometres. Kamilaroi, Gomilaroi, Geawegal, Bahtabah, Thungutti, Awabakal, Aniawan, Biripi, Worimi, Nganyaywana, Wonnarua, Banbai, Ngoorabul, Bundjalung, Yallaroi and Darkinung peoples are the traditional custodians of the land. You will work closely with key leaders, including the Executive Operations Manager, General Managers, Senior clinicians, Mental health specialists, Stream and Network leads, and the Medical Lead. Regular team interactions and participation in virtual steering committees will foster collaboration and drive innovative outcomes.

      • Eligible for Specialist registration with the Medical Board of Australia
      • Fellowship Royal Australasian College of Physicians – RACP and/or specialist registration with AHPRA
      • Demonstrated success as a medical leader, responsible for managing and delivering safe, effective, and sustainable healthcare at a health service's department or division level.
      • Experience in the design of health care models that involve virtual health care delivery utilising technology and virtual workforce.
      • Demonstrated experience in change leadership and management.
      • Demonstrated ability to engage with complex stakeholders across the health system to better integrate care and provide an enhanced consumer and clinician experience.
      • Evidence of being a high-level collaborator, including the ability to network and operate within an interdisciplinary framework and to work with other stakeholders in a variety of settings
      • Demonstrated commitment to clinical governance with detailed knowledge of and experience in governance and clinical risk management principles and practices to achieve the goals of the organisation.
      • Demonstrated ability to work harmoniously with a multidisciplinary health care team, communicate with patients, family, colleagues and other staff, and work as an effective member of the virtual care service team.
