Job summary
We are looking for someone to join our busy but friendly reception teams. Our working environment is fast paced and demanding so the ability to work well within a team and under pressure is essential.
The candiate should be a courteous and well motivated individual, must have excellent communication skills and be computer literate. Previous receptionist and NHS experience is helpful but a positive attitude, smart appearance and approachable manner is essential.
Main duties of the job
We are looking for some who is confident and has an excellent telephone manner. The candidate must be able to work as part of a team and on their own.
Working Hours would be Monday 1.30pm-6pm, Tuesday 2pm- 6pm Wednesday 2pm-6.30pm Thursday 3pm- 6.30pm Friday 12pm,-6pm with a possibility of extra hours to cover holidays and sickness and a view to working across two other surgeries.
About us
Our practice list size is 10,800. We have 6 GPs, 1 Advanced Nurse Practitioner and 4 Practice Nurses working at the surgery, along with additional services provided by the the surgery.

RESPONSIBLE TO: All Doctors and Practice Manager/Reception Manager

RECEPTIONIST
General Duties: The receptionists play a vital role in the running of the
Surgery as support to the Partners, Salaried GPs, Clinical Practitioners,
Practice Nurses, the Practice Manager and other ancillary personnel.
The role is demanding and requires good communication skills at all
times. The receptionist will be expected to use his/her own initiative
within the bounds of Practice policies and guidance.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Report initially to the Reception Manager.
Maintain Patient Confidentiality at all times.
Be Compliant with current Practice guidelines and protocols.
Provide Flexibility for holiday/sickness cover.
Answer the telephone in an efficient but friendly manner.
Use the computerized EMIS WEB system.
Request electronic prescriptions as per repeat prescribing protocol ensuring any queries are passed to GPs.
Ensure all Reception Jobs are done as required.
Ensure that all Reception rules are adhered to.
Ensure that payments and receipts are dealt with appropriately.
Relay results viewed by GPs from computer to Patients.
Chaperone doctors in surgery when required.
Record and pass on messages and ensure appropriate action is taken.
Ensure all equipment is used correctly and well-maintained.
Make any necessary phone calls as requested by Doctor/Practice Manager.
Record any necessary details on patients computerised records.
Undertake urine dip testing and recording results on patients computerised records.
Complete any necessary forms as requested by the Doctor
Complete the first part of the process of registering new patients and
Temporary Residents, i.e. making sure the forms are completed correctly.
Take accurate details of any patient changes of address or telephone numbers.
Provide any necessary equipment to GPs or other staff in their consulting rooms when requested.
Liaise with GPs, Locums, Clinical Practitioners, Practice Nurses, Treatment Room staff and any other ancillary staff coming into the practice.
Photocopy notes as requested by Administration.
Work to all practice procedures and policies.
Any other duties as may be required.
