      Job summary

      We are currently looking for a part-time medical receptionist to join our friendly team five afternoons per week, Monday to Friday 1pm -5.30pm.

      Are you empathetic, caring, kind and people focused, yet resilient and committed? If so, we would love to hear from you. No experience is necessary as full training will be given.

      Main duties of the job

      Suitable candidates will have excellent administration skills, be organised and have excellent communication skills and telephone manner. The role requires flexibility, willing to cover leave and to work as part of a team.

      Main aspect of the role is to be the first point of contact for patients, secondary care and outside agencies. You will need a positive attitude. You will be required to provide admin support to our Clinicians by processing various tasks including prescriptions and follow up appointments whilst adhering to Practice policies and maintaining confidentiality at all times.

      About us

      Bradford Student Health Service is a busy GP practice in Bradford with approximately 11,500 registered patients. We are a University practice situated in close proximity to the University of Bradford.

      Reception is an integral part of the practice and is the patients first line of communication for all their health care needs. We pride ourselves on confidentiality, trust and respect whilst ensuring professionalism is displayed at all times. Working as a team is an essential part of working in Reception alongside admin, clinical and managerial staff.

      Job description

      Job responsibilities

      The following are the core responsibilities of the receptionist. There may be on occasion, a requirement to carry out other tasks; this will be dependent upon factors such as workload and staffing levels:

      a. Maintaining and monitoring the practice appointment system

      b. Process personal, telephone and e-requests for appointments

      c. Answer incoming phone calls, transferring calls or dealing with the callers request appropriately

      d. Signpost patients to the correct service

      e. Initiating contact with and responding to, requests from patients, team members and external agencies

      f. Read code data on SystmOne

      g. Photocopy documentation as required

      h. Data entry of new and temporary registrations and relevant patient information as required

      i. Input data into the patients healthcare records as necessary

      j. Direct requests for information i.e. SAR, insurance / solicitors letters and DVLA forms to the administrative team

      k. Manage all queries as necessary in an efficient manner

      l. Carry out system searches as requested

      m. Maintain a clean, tidy, effective working area at all times

      n. Monitor and maintain the reception area and notice boards

      o. Support all clinical staff with general tasks as requested
