      Job summary

      Penrhyn Bay Medical Centre is a warm and friendly practice serving a population of 6000 patients. We require a practice receptionist to join our team to maintain high standards of patient care as well as carry out administrative tasks. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills and IT literacy are essential for this post, as are patient service skills. The successful candidate will enjoy working as part of a dedicated team, with the added satisfaction of working for an organisation committed to the care and well being of others.

      Some flexibility will be required including cover when other members of the team are on holiday. Previous experience in a GP surgery and a working knowledge of EMIS web are also desirable.

      The role is demanding with plenty of scope for skill development

      Main duties of the job

      Able to deal with the day today running of the reception area, such as dealing with prescriptions, booking appointments, dealing with queries and scanning/coding clinical letters when required. Experience of working in primary care would be preferred but not essential as training would be given.

      Penrhyn Bay Medical Centre is a friendly practice serving a population of 6000 patients. We have a branch site situated in Deganwy. We have a team of 3 GPs, 1 Advanced Nurse Practitioners, 2 Practice Nurses, a Health Care assistant and 6 Receptionists.

      We all work as a team and help each other. We have a very friendly atmosphere in the workplace whilst maintaining high standards of professionalism. Automatic enrollment into the NHS Pension Scheme available.

      Job description

      Job responsibilities

      Arrive, amend and cancel patient appointments in line with practice appointments procedures Answering telephone calls, taking messages, ensuring all are actioned / redirected / documented

      Produce repeat prescriptions according to practice procedures and ensure timely completion of the scripts for the clinicians on a daily basis.

      Responding to requests or queries for support as they arise in an appropriate and timely manner

      Registration of new patients.

      Fax/photocopying

      Ensure up-to-date maintenance of computerised and manual filing systems

      Amalgamation of new patient records

      Tasks,Answer desk /phone

      Deducting patients

      Workflow, Emails - action/distribute

      Filing/New patients notes/Summarising

      GP 2 GP

      Opening & Closing surgery

      Post - open / sort

      Raise blood forms

      Be able to cover all reception positions as necessary

      Process appointment requests for today/future appointments from patients by telephone via AskmyGP.
