      Main duties of the job

      Our receptionists provide a reception service for all patients including: appointment bookings, prescription requests & other enquiries.

      Process personal, telephone and e-requests for appointments.

      Signpost patients to the correct service.

      You will provide a meet & greet service for external visitors to the Practice. To act as the central point of contact for patients, the distribution of information, messages and enquiries for the clinical team.

      A big part of the role is to receive & process incoming telephone calls to the practice in a timely manner.

      Distribute clinical/non- clinical correspondence to Practice members.

      Undertake tasks as requested. Action emails. Issue repeat & acute prescriptions if required following practice protocols.

      Input data into patients' healthcare records as necessary.

      Comply with Practice Health & Safety Policy at all times.

      Uphold confidentiality at all times.

      Assist in any other tasks as requested by Reception/ General Manager.

      Other duties

      To attend the following:

      Staff meetings, in house Best Meetings, Mandatory training.

      To undertake & carry out any other reasonable tasks /duties as requested by the Management Team.

      You will remain professional at all times & communicate effectively with your colleagues, patients and external providers to the Practice.

      Meadowview surgery is a welcoming & busy single practice in a Primary Care Network (PCN) with over 50,000 patients.

      We are a GP Teaching Practice. We have an established team of 2 GP Partners along with 2 GPs & a host of varied health professionals including pharmacists, nurses, ACP, Paramedic, Social Prescribing link worker, care co-ordinators, First Contact Practitioners & a proactive admin team.

      • Receive, assist and direct patients in accessing the appropriate service or healthcare professional in a courteous, efficient and effective way.

      • Provide general assistance to the Practice team and project a positive and friendly image to patients and other visitors, either in person or via the telephone

      • Be able to adapt to the challenges and changes facing General Practice

      • Job Responsibilities

      • Answering the telephone, taking messages and passing them on appropriately.
      • Directing patients to digital platforms
      • Manage the reception desk ensuring surgeries run smoothly and efficiently.
      • Processing all requests for repeat prescriptions in accordance with practice guidelines
      • Checking patients records and issuing reminders for long term condition reviews/blood tests etc.

      To provide point of contact for patients and act as a focal point of communication between patients, Doctors and other members of the Primary Health Care Team.

      • Be able to cover all reception/administration tasks as necessary
      • Typing referral letters/Choose & Book referral letters
      • Process appointment requests by telephone and in person
      • Taking requests for home visits and ensure they are recorded and processed correctly.

      • Computer data entry updating patient records/working remotely/send digital information to patients and directing patients to digital platforms
      • Open/close the practice as and when necessary ensuring the reception, office and consulting rooms are prepared in readiness for the morning session
      • Photocopy and shred as required.
      • Maintaining confidentiality at all times

      • To have a thorough knowledge of all Practice procedures and policies
      • To work in accordance of written protocols
      • Any other tasks allocated by Practice Manager / GPs
      • All staff are required to take their share of providing cover, when necessary for colleagues who may be absent due to holidays or illness. This is a mandatory requirement of the role.
