What to Expect (Job Responsibilities):
- Abstract, sequence, and assign diagnosis and procedure codes following ICD-10-CM and CPT4 guidelines
- Review billing rejection audits and address inquiries from the billing department
- Maintain current knowledge of coding regulations and compliance issues
- Communicate with physicians to clarify diagnoses and procedures
- Conduct quality control audits and assist in training new coding personnel

What is Required (Qualifications):
- Two years of occupationally specific education or an Associate's degree
- Four years of acute care hospital-based inpatient coding experience
- Current certification by AHIMA as either a Certified Coding Specialist (CCS) or Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT with CCS)
- Ability to maintain awareness of daily operations and goals within the Coding Unit
- Strong communication skills for effective interaction with medical staff
