- Develops strategic Medical Affairs involvement for the assigned Area with delivery of scientific webinars, in-person presentations, and scientific exchange.
- Partners with the area-level commercial division leaders to identify and engage HCPs with peer-to-peer medical information, rapport building, and determination of fit for programs such as Speakers Bureau.
- Arranges in person travel opportunities to deliver scientific presentations and develop relationships with HCPs.
- Responds to both on-label and off-label inquiries from medical professionals on appropriate and safe device use and training, including virtual or in-person HCP consultations.
- Supports medical-marketing initiatives, such as conference planning and support, medical education content development, faculty speaker training, market access initiatives, and review of promotional and educational materials, and direct the cadence of these events.
- Supports Market Access teams with information on clinical developments, publications, and market trends. Assist with the integration of primary clinical and research evidence from Type 1 and Type 2 patients, clinicians, salesforce, databases, and key opinion leaders. Provides internal and external scientific presentations as needed to bolster market access initiatives.
- Provides ad-hoc educational webinars, presentations, or content to internal teams to support corporate initiatives (including scientific information, disease management, and device use)
- Assists with set up and delivery of advisory boards, speaker trainings, and external payor reviews, as needed.
- Translates complex medical messages to enable clear and concise understanding by both external audiences and internal stakeholders.
- Ensures compliance with company policies, including Privacy/HIPAA, and other legal and regulatory requirements.
- MS, PhD, DNP, MD, PharmD or equivalent combination of education and applicable job experience
- 3 plus years clinical diabetes, diabetes technology, or insulin pump industry experience.
- Experience presenting or communicating scientific information to professional audiences. Deep knowledge of diabetes disease state and clinical management of type 1 and type 2 diabetes. standards of care, and diabetes technology use in diverse populations.
- Fundamental knowledge and/or experience with scientific and statistical analyses.
- Professional experience interacting with patients, referral sources and health care professionals.
- Skilled at analytical problem solving and communicating with culturally diverse groups. Skilled in effective presentations of scientific data and materials.
- Skilled at effectively communicating as a clinical expert
- Demonstrated knowledge of US FDA medical device regulations. Understanding of international medical device regulations with specific knowledge of Canadian Medical Device Regulations and EU CE Mark may be relevant.
- Working knowledge of medical device quality systems (QSRs) related to regulatory activities, change control and design control.
- Excellent technical writing, editing, and proofreading skills.
- Able to assert own ideas and persuade others through effectively consolidating, evaluating, and presenting relevant information.
- Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions.
- Able and motivated to work independently and as a team member with many different departments.
- Able to make and prioritize process and resource decisions based on overall team needs.
- Ability to plan and execute clinical and regulatory preparation activities.
- Skilled with MS Office applications as well as Adobe Acrobat.
- Clinical licensure (MD, RN, NP, etc.) preferred
- Certified Diabetes Care and Educator Specialist (CDCES), Board Certified in Advanced Diabetes Management (BC-ADM) or similar, preferred.

WHEN & WHERE YOU’LL WORK:
This position is fully remote and open to candidates within the United States. Equipment for the role will be provided and training will occur virtually. We are open to candidates who live and can work in the Western United States.
Travel: This role will require car and air travel up to 50% of time.
A DAY IN THE LIFE:
The Medical Sciences Liaison (West) will liaise with the healthcare and scientific communities to support the market introduction and/or sustainment of the organization's products by defining and supporting clinical activities to further product application, industry position, and market penetration. This role will further the development of the company’s relationship with the medical/scientific community by communicating product-related information to investigators and institutions and assisting field reps with medical related questions that require Medical Affairs oversight. Provides leadership through the creation and implementation of strategies to provide information on research developments and new concepts in medical treatment, giving perspective to field activities associated with growing existing products and bringing new products to market, including organizing and planning of medical presentations in coordination with the Medical Affairs team. Partners with multiple teams inside Tandem, as well as with industry, customers, and collaborators to address clinical questions related to the company’s current and future products.

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS:
The starting base pay range for this position is $133k-$160k annually. Base pay will vary based on job-related knowledge, skills, experience and may also fluctuate depending on candidate’s location and the overall job market. In addition to base pay, Tandem offers a competitive compensation package that includes bonus, equity, and a robust benefits package.
