      Job summary

      To provide full and comprehensive secretarial support to the Breast Unit consultants and clinical teams.

      To provide a central point of communication for patients undergoing consultant / treatment from Breast Unit Consultants.

      Main duties of the job

      Working as part of a team of medical secretaries and administrative staff, the responsibilities of our Medical Secretary role are varied and would include:

      • Audio-typing of clinical reports and correspondence using the Winscribe digital dictation system
      • To liaise with Nurses, Doctors and other members of the multi - disciplinary team including Inpatient & Outpatient Bookings teams to provide a quality service for the patients.
      • To work as part of a team sharing responsibility for the smooth running of the department in line with Trust performance targets.

      • Word processing / audio typing qualifications or RSA level II or equivalent
      • Good knowledge of the English language to be able to communicate effectively verbally and in writing

      • Able to learn medical terminology (following a period of learning on the job if necessary) and use this effectively as part of the role.

      • Previous and recent secretarial experience
