Job summary
This is an advert for two medical secretary positions within the Cardiothoracic Directorate.
The Cardiothoracic Directorate provides high quality emergency, secondary, regional and national specialist services in Cardiology, Cardiac and Thoracic surgery.
This role is pivotal in enabling the Directorate to provide a high-quality, comprehensive and professional administrative service to patients, relatives, carers and other internal and external stakeholders.
The post holder will provide a comprehensive secretarial service to the consultant and medical team, offer information to a whole range of professions. They will be a link and point of contact for patients and their representatives.
Main duties of the job
To undertake a comprehensive medical secretarial service to the consultant and his/her team including time management.
To maintain quality and up to date patient case notes which include entering clinic comments and acting upon the instructions therein.
To be responsible for the delivery (typing) of accurate clinical letters and discharge summaries.
To act as an initial point of contact for GP's, other consultant's medical staff, health care professions, patients etc.
Ability to deal with conflicting and changing priorities within existing resources through initiative.
Recognises the ability of others and works as a team to resolve issues jointly.
Monitor results and chase outstanding results when necessary to ensure patient pathways are managed accurately and in a timely manner.
Ensure RTT pathways are correctly completed on Lorenzo in real time.
