      Location: St. John's Hospital, Maplewood, MN
      Schedule: Full-time, 1.0 FTE (80 hours per pay period), day shift, no weekends

      The role of the Medical Staff Practitioner Evaluation Specialist at Fairview involves several key responsibilities centered around supporting and facilitating medical staff peer review activities. Here’s a breakdown of the job summary and expectations:

      Job Summary: The Medical Staff Practitioner Evaluation Specialist provides expert consultation and collaborates on the development and implementation of all practitioner peer review activities. This includes preparing cases for evaluation, promoting systemic methods for Ongoing Professional Practice Evaluations (OPPE) and Focused Professional Practice Evaluations (FPPE) to meet accreditation standards, and ensuring meaningful quality metrics across all service specialties. The role also focuses on process improvement initiatives and maintaining regulatory compliance.

      Job Expectations:

      • Identifying and preparing cases for peer review, analyzing cases meeting review indicators or care concerns, and facilitating peer review meetings.
      • Coordinating review activities with medical staff leaders and managing sensitive information under the guidance of VPMA (Vice President of Medical Affairs) and Director of Medical Staff Services.
      • Assisting in developing clinical indicators to monitor and evaluate practitioner quality of care.
      • Coordinating external peer reviews when necessary and communicating findings with involved providers.
      • Documenting outcomes in a secure data reporting system and ensuring compliance with regulatory guidelines and medical bylaws.
      • Providing education on the peer review process to medical staff and identifying opportunities for organizational improvement based on data and assessments.

      Qualifications

      Required:

      • Education: Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience.
      • Experience: 3-5 years of medical staff peer review or related experience.

      Preferred:

      • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Nursing or Health Information Management.
      • Experience: 5-10 years of medical staff peer review experience.
      • License/Certification/Registration: RN (Registered Nurse) or RHIA (Registered Health Information Administrator).

      Additional Requirements:

      • Expert knowledge of Practitioner Peer Review Process.
