- Customer Relationship Management: Building and maintaining strong relationships with various stakeholders, including elevators, farmers, livestock producers, and feed mills is essential. Exceptional communication and customer service skills are key to exceeding expectations and securing grain supply.
- Market Analysis and Information Sharing: Staying up-to-date on market conditions, crop forecasts, and supply/demand dynamics is vital. Effectively communicating this information to internal teams (division, trading, accounting, and credit management) and external partners (Elevator Managers) ensures informed decision-making across the organization.
- Logistics and Cost Analysis: Optimizing logistics and minimizing costs are crucial aspects of this role. Analyzing different scenarios, understanding transportation costs, and identifying efficient supply chain solutions contribute to profitability.
- Production and Supply/Demand Analysis: Maintaining and analyzing data related to U.S. production, supply, and demand for key grains (corn, beans, wheat, rice, and milo) informs trading decisions and hedging strategies.
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Agricultural Economics, Agricultural Business, General Business, or Finance is preferred.
- Experience: 3+ years of commercial experience is preferred, suggesting a need for practical experience in trading or agricultural markets.
- Financial Acumen: Intermediate understanding of accounting principles, market values, pricing, and margin factors is highly preferred, suggesting the role involves financial analysis and decision-making related to grain trades.
- Trading Expertise: Knowledge of cash commodity trading and Chicago Board of Trade (CBOT) experience are preferred, indicating the importance of understanding futures markets and hedging strategies.
- Computer Proficiency: Demonstrated computer skills in email, Excel, Word, and other technical software packages are required for data analysis, reporting, and communication.
- Sales and Negotiation: Sales knowledge and negotiation skills are preferred, highlighting the role's involvement in securing contracts and building relationships with buyers and sellers.

Bunge is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Grain Merchandiser to join our team in our Fairmont City location. This role offers a unique opportunity to leverage your expertise in grain trading, origination, and market analysis to maximize profitability within a dynamic agricultural landscape. As a Grain Merchandiser, you will play a key role in developing and executing grain origination and merchandising strategies. This will include building and maintaining strong relationships with local farmers, elevators, and other key stakeholders in the grain supply chain. You will be responsible for managing grain purchasing and sales, coordinating logistics, and analyzing market trends to identify profitable opportunities. A deep understanding of hedging strategies and risk management is crucial for success in this role. This position requires a strong understanding of agricultural markets, excellent communication and negotiation skills, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
