Job Description

- Bachelor’s Degree in business administration, finance, applied statistics or a related discipline with an emphasis on economics, data analysis and scenario modelling or equivalent experience.
- 4+ years of experience in data science, data analytics, data management, reporting and dashboarding preferred.
- 3+ plus years in Cannabis or related industry
- Strong knowledge and experience working with PowerBI is required
- Advanced Excel skills including Visual Basic macros, intermediate level skills in Outlook, Word, and PowerPoint
- Experience with Power Automate workflows, PowerShell and Sharepoint
- SQL Knowledge and experience (Training and Certification preferred)
- Excellent understanding of budgeting, business planning and business case modelling
- Economic modelling and analysis techniques
- Excellence in interpretation of market research data and results for analytical purposes
- Sound organizational, analytical, judgement and decision-making skills
- Proven ability to work cross-functionally with diverse teams, communicate effectively and handle multiple deliverables
- Ability to work within a fast-paced environment with changing priorities.
- Experience in business process development and optimization

The Liquor & Cannabis Division supports progressive developments in both industries while building strong relationships with stakeholders and collecting revenue for the General Revenue Fund. It is responsible for managing both product supply chains in Alberta via both external warehousing solutions and a third party logistics partner. The liquor industry is also supported through Liquor Program Services and Liquor Planning & Reporting Services. Closing Date: July 26, 2024JOB SUMMARY
The Merchandising Analyst will partner with the Cannabis Merchandising and Operations teams to develop, review, report on Cannabis KPI’s, develop inventory purchase and sales forecasts, revenue forecasts and budgets, variance reporting and provide insights to assist the Cannabis team in making data driven decisions. The Merchandising Analyst will use AGLC’s datasets to create and maintain Cannabis business’ reporting tools including PowerBI Dashboards. The Merchandising Analyst will manage operational tasks such as the Return to Vendor process, Aging Holds, tracking fines and work directly with 3PL partner, Licensed Producers and Finance. The Merchandising Analyst will inform leadership of actionable strategies and achieve team objectives. The Merchandising Analyst will use their strong attention to detail to evaluate processes and look for areas of improvement to better support a cohesive execution to further serve our stakeholders.
This position is focused on effective use of monetary resources to achieve optimal merchandise turns. It requires hypothesis-driven, data analysis and critical thinking to come up with actionable strategies. It also requires awareness of external and internal inputs and how they impact inventory management as it relates to our external stakeholders. This position will require bringing forward recommendations that will increase efficiencies for all stakeholders and to drive results within the department and other functional groups. Also, the position is responsible for working cross-functionally to develop initial departmental operational and revenue budgets and performing any reforecasts and variance analysis. The incumbent will recommend and provide guidance to cross-functional teams on product calls, price changes and volume forecasts.
