      Group M&A sits within the Group Strategy and is responsible for the evaluation and execution of all mergers, acquisitions and divestments considered by the CBA Group. In fulfilling this role the team is required to provide strategic advice to senior leaders across the Group. The team works closely with all areas of the bank, including Group functions (such as Legal, Finance, Treasury and Risk) as well as with each of the individual Business Units.

      As Manager, Group Mergers & Acquisitions, you will assist senior members of the Group M&A team in relation to all aspects of the mergers and acquisitions process.

      Do work that matters

      • As Manager, Group M&A, you will be responsible for assisting senior members of the Group M&A team in relation to all aspects of the mergers and acquisitions process. Your impact and contribution will include:
      • End-to-end involvement in M&A transactions, from origination through to transaction execution and completion
      • Analysing and forming critical views on the strategic benefits of various M&A opportunities which are presented to the Group M&A team
      • Producing recommendations for senior Group M&A members and other business leaders throughout the CBA Group
      • Helping to identify potential M&A opportunities having regards to the CBA Group strategic agenda
      • Mentoring and developing junior talent within the Group M&A team

      Your responsibilities

      As Manager, Group M&A, you will be responsible for assisting the senior members of the Group M&A team in relation to all aspects of the mergers and acquisitions process. Specifically, you will be required to:

      • Undertake detailed financial analysis and valuation work, including developing financial models
      • Draft presentations and papers for senior stakeholders, committees and Boards within the CBA Group
      • Understand the strategies of the individual Business Units and consider whether opportunities fit within that strategy
      • Independently manage specific workstreams within M&A transactions
      • Liaise with Business Unit and support function partners
      • Assist in leveraging external resources e.g. investment banking advisors
      • Help develop the more junior members of the Group M&A team

      We’re interested in hearing from people who have

      • This role requires the following skill(s) and experience(s):
      • Significant prior M&A experience (e.g. in the corporate finance / M&A advisory team of a professional services firm, or in investment banking) is preferred
      • Strong commercial acumen
      • Demonstrated ability to collaborate with teams on work streams/ specific project activities end-to-end and independently manage deliverables
      • Strong stakeholder management, communication skills (both written and verbal) and influencing skills
      • Ability to deliver high quality work outputs while managing heavy workloads and under significant time pressure, while maintaining a positive attitude
